  1. Awesome, thanks! I found a place that should be able to take care of it for me. They are about 35 minutes away and the business is called "driveshaft specialist inc", so I assume they should be able to get it. I just hope the prices are reasonable.
  2. I hit up two junk yards today and was basically told tough crap. Both places were super rude to me! I don't think those old long bearded junk yard guys take a 23 year old very seriously. All I wanted to do was give them my money! The second yard I went to even told me they don't sell Toyota parts anymore and all toyotas are sent overseas! I laughed and walked out.
  3. Like I say, always drink enough water so that you always have to go to the bathroom. This shows that your body is always fully hydrated!
  4. Have you taken a look at the actual water lines coming from the tank and going into and out of the pump? When I bought mine the water flow worked but was weak and the pump had a noisy bearing. I replaced the whole thing for about $75 and it works beautifully now. When you have water at the faucets hooked to external water it is because the water pressure from the hose it what is moving the water out of the faucet, while when not connected all water flow is up to the pump. It has a pressure switch that senses when a faucet is opened at line pressure drops and that's when it knows to automatically turn on and off.
  5. There's a drive shaft shop near me so I'm going to bring it by since they said they can likely order it. If I can find it online and order it myself I would prefer to do that to save the money but I cannot seem to locate just this part of it. If anyone knows the part number and could fill me in on it I'd be more than grateful. If I can't find it I guess I will be having one made for it. Any rough ideas of what that usually costs? I also destroyed the bearings on the U-joint getting it off the drive shaft, so I plan on putting in a new universal joint and bearings.
  6. Update, I got the drive shaft out and the rear of the transmission off. Here were my findings. The shaft had some serious wear on it. I'd say it's certainly worse than when I had it apart the other day. I think it happened when I tried to drive it home because I definitely heard a new vibration that I had never heard before. And also I noticed that the oil port hole in the bushing is not properly aligned with the oil supply tube. I am not sure if it was like that when I had it apart the other day or if it possibly happened on the drive home. So I got a new seal kit and bushing. I'm finding the drive shaft tomorrow. I'll keep the thread updated when I have new info. Thanks!
  7. Try letting some PB Blaster soak on it for a few days. I too tried to pull my pan off last week and the first bolt I tried snapped off so I stopped there.
  8. Alright I'm going to call a Driveshaft shop near me and see if they can help me out since I cannot seem to find the yoke alone online.
  9. Also got new taillights installed since old were corroded and unreliable. Also got the side marker lights working too. The driver side never worked and I opened it to find the ground had never been hooked up? My sweet new porch light.
  10. I've been super busy working on the Toyota trying to get it ready for travel. Lately I have gotten a good amount of things done. After getting the floor finished up the next creation was a table of some sort. I wanted something that could hold a tv up all the time and have a table with work space that lowers when not in use. I looked at tables online for motorhomes but all were either super cheap or super expensive. I decided to build my own. It took a good amount of work, measuring, cutting, and sometimes fixing mistakes Unfortunately it was so time consuming that I did not get to take too many pictures as I was in work mode. I'll post what I have. Basic framing started.. Trying to consider what to use for the table was a hard decision. I found these at Lowes and they were about the perfect size, already covered, and cheap. That was about all the pics I got during the build. The finished product turned out pretty sweet. Here it is in down mode with my huge TV in place. And with table in the up position. Holding the table up is actually a screen door lock! It actually worked pretty perfect. Ignore the light wood, it still needs staining. I painted the wall as well. When the table is not in up mode the "leg" goes into this clip in the wall. Here is a panoramic photo to show how comfy it is in this thing now. Also installed something the truck was missing, a much needed inverter. I was able to put it in the same space as the plug in for the generator so that I could just plug my shore power line into the inverter and have power for tv or fridge while driving. Wired it into the battery box.
  11. Also, the end of the drive shaft that slides into the transmission (the yoke maybe? I don't know what its called), seemed to have some wear on it from where it rides on what I assume is the bushing. How can I go about fixing this? I assume I would just have to locate that front part of the drive shaft? Are these still made?
  12. Thanks for the help. I already ordered the bushing and went ahead and ordered another seal kit too since I'm sure this one will get damaged upon removal. Toyota will have it tomorrow afternoon and I will pick it up and then should have the truck apart Thursday or Friday and will post my findings. Thanks again
  13. When the fluid is full it seemed to shift perfectly normal. Only time shifting got weird was when it ran out of fluid. I pulled into a gas station and saw it was leaking a big amount of tranny fluid in just the minute I had parked at the station. I checked level and it showed empty. With the amount of fluid it was leaking I had no doubt it drained the whole 2.5 qts during the drive there. I filled it up with another 2.5 qts and headed home. It shifted fine and I drove about 7 miles and then it started acting funny again but I made it home. I am going to pull it back apart and take a look at the tail housing busing and see what else I can find.
  14. I was driving my 87 Escaper (22re auto) when it acted funny shifting after an interstate drive of about 15 miles. Checked tranny fluid and it was about dry. I jacked it up and underneath saw that it was leaking quite a bit of fluid at the spot where the drive shaft goes into the transmission. I pulled the drive shaft back and replaced the seal and seal housing or whatever its called. Old seal vs. new. The old seal did not look too bad. The problem I noticed was that the drive shaft seemed to have some wear in it. I'm assuming it would be from where it ride on the bearing? Anyway, I put it all back together and took it for a drive and it seemed okay. Fast forward to later that night and I'm driving home and it starts acting funny again. Sure enough I look under and it's leaking quite a bit of fluid at the same spot. So that leaves me to believe it has to be the bearing and or drive shaft. I have never dealt with this type of problem before and figured I could use any advice anyone has to offer. I am going to mess with it this week and see what I find. I will keep the thread updated with finds.
  15. Yes sir! One of the most expensive things for this is having a vacuum pump which I have because I also do residential HVAC. I would also replace the expansion valve while you're at it since its just as cheap as the drier and will take care of that "just in case".
  16. A small trailer would definitely do better than a hitch hauler. I considered it but did not want to have to haul a trailer.
  17. I know from what I've read researching this in the past, most people say you should not haul off of the hitch, and some Toyota's even have a tag on the bumper warning to NOT haul with the hitch. On the other side of the spectrum, I have heard several people say that they have hitch hauled a motorcycle no problem. My Escaper has a hitch installed on it from factory that looks plenty strong and I would not be afraid to haul off of it. I actually planned on hauling a 300 pound motorcycle on a hitch like this. Just remember how far back that hitch sits behind the rear axle and how hauling can effect the vehicle.
  18. I agree with you, especially in Florida there are lifted trucks around here that don't even look street legal and are running on military tires. Most of the shops I talk to usually give me the, "oh well you would have to bring it in for me to really know but I think we will probably not be able to do it." Hence why I do not want to waste my gas and time driving from shop to shop. I even told them all it is just a standard 1987 Toyota 1-ton truck with a camper and they all seem to not be interested in helping me out. I will give a call to this place Linda recommended, they look like they'll definitely be able to do it but hopefully they're not super expensive considering it's somewhat of a specialty shop rather than just a Tire Kingdom or something like that.
  19. Excellent, that area is near me as well. Thank you.
  20. I have called around and have gotten everything from the doors are not tall enough, to the vehicle is too heavy for the machine, to we can't align dual wheeled vehicles.. I figured I'd ask here because I assume someone here may have possibly gotten an alignment at some time or another on their home and would be able to simply fill me on the answer, rather than me calling around chasing a ghost.
  21. I've called a few places and they say they're unsure if they can do an alignment on my toyota and would have to see it to know. Before I drive around to a thousand different places I figured I'd ask here if anyone has had an alignment done and where at? Thanks!
  22. yup good system, it was originally installed by Acme along with the cruise control system (which does not work).
