  1. Anyone have any good ideas or pictures of a Rear Bumper? Front Bumper? We are looking to make a practical Rear Bumper that will hold bikes, firewood, etc. Can't hold too much because it would be about 8ft away from the axle. Also looking to make a "rock crawler" type Front Bumper with a winch that won't look too mean that could possibly hold a dirt bike.
  2. Someone told me it could be a break in the wire but I may not be able to see it if the jacket is still in place.
  3. I replaced the brake light switch, from Napa, last week thinking that would fix everything! I was just thinking to get a temporary magnetic rear light set for towing and cut the lights off and re-run the harness as my permanent wires. http://www.harborfreight.com/12-volt-magnetic-towing-light-kit-69626.html
  4. Hummmm cant figure it out! seems like it should be the ground. Has anyone totally rewired their rig's tail lights? Any advice? THANKS
  5. Linda, I went to the dealer and they told me that the recall has been changed to 8 yrs or 100,000 miles which ever comes first. Oh well it was worth a shot thanks. After thinking about dropping 2 grand on fixing a gasket... if mine does totally drop dead, Im seriously thing about throwing a V6 Vortec in and while Im there I might as well as drop a transfer case from a early 90s Toyota 4x4. There are so many out there with a blown gasket and all other parts work fine. prob have to shorten the drive shaft and other stuff too. (My next project after an awning is a 2" suspension lift to get the 8ft rear end past some dirt gravel roads to these awesome lakes in the Lake Tahoe area.)
  6. I had the same problem. I just went to Napa and got a 24" fuel hose and a 3/4" vent hose. I put 2 galvanized clamps on each side (total 8) of the hoses. I took my fill hole off the body to make it all easier to install. Was an easy job, if you jack the rig up on that side it may make it easier to install to the tank. Keep in mind, I have the V6 with a Conquest body so my gas tank and fill hole may be placed differently from the body. One of my earlier posts talks about the problem I had with other members' comments that helped a lot.
  7. It all started when I went to change the thermostat and there wasn't one there. (wondered why it was running at a cool temp all the time) So after I put the thermostat in, it caused the weakest part of the seal to suck in to cause the blown head gasket. I was having white smoke out of the exhaust, and my coolant was going into the 6th plug and fowling it out. I used this after I took the plug out, started it for a second to shoot the water out and put the #1 plug (because it wasn't fowled) and put the 6th where the 1st was to unfowl it. After about 5 miles the exhaust was clear again and the plug stopped fowling. Since then we went about 5000 miles (about 3 hours at a time during each trip) climbing through Yosemite to Lake Tahoe and stopped at every lake in between. We run Mobile One oil, Lucas gear oil in our rear, 8 ply tires from Les Schwab with brass tire valves. Thinking about putting a front transfer case and a 2" suspension lift.
  8. 87 Escaper, Thanks for that info. I found them on Amazon for $61 a piece too. As for your interior lights, where did you order them from? Also you said you didn't drain any battery in 3 days. Do you have 2 batteries? Solar Panel? Thanks. I am running my solar panel to the battery in the back then to my battery under the hood all together. I can go for days with the solar charging everything then start the rig and it will charge both batteries. Not sure if that is the way everyone is doing it but it has been working for me. AND I don't have any LED lights anywhere yet.
  9. So far AdventureRV.net has the cheapest LED tail lights on the web. Next project --> Do the switch to all LED inside & out!!
  10. Got 6 tires today... yummmmm, thanks Les Schawb

  11. holy cow... they have a lot of parts for us! I just called and all you have to do is take a picture, email it to Michael and he could ship it to you anywhere in the world. Thanks for this website it will be my main source for used parts. I just ordered Fender Skirts, Clearance light covers and an outside door cover for my fridge.
  12. What do you agree with? I just may do the idea of a small trailer with some brakes... I like that one the best... We live up in the Sierra's and it's no problem to get down the hill, one of the worries is just stopping when we get down! The other worry would be coming back up. Would my rear and tranny be ok? hummm
