I am a proud new owner of a 1977 Toyota Chinook. I look forward to gleaning the pages of this site and asking advise.
I recently shifted from a 13 foot Scamp pull behind trailer (and the fine fiberglass rv'ers site) to one of the greatest small rv's ever made.
My Dad owned a 1976 (different interior layout from my '77) in the early '80's and I always wanted one.
The R20 on mine is well preserved (115k actual) and the rv spent its whole life in an Iowa polebarn (when not traveling)
I bought it with some nice add-ons including paint job (seafoam green...a tad odd but i already ordered camoflage rocker panel/vinyl accents to trick it into being an outdoorsy looking rig:first: ) Nice keystone rims as well
diamond plate running boards, diamond plate step bumper, entry and rainguard. Last week my sister and I stayed up till 4am and recovered the hideous orange floral print cushions and for $24 in materials it was a great update. Yesterday I picked up on Craigs list, an rv table ($15) from a 1977 camper (interesting '70's green) which should work quite well with the interior updates. The original owner kept everything since new, including all pristine manuals, chinook checklists, appliance manuals, etc...
needless to say I am thrilled to have it and happy to join this group.
