  1. I'm telling ya! We drive the slowest rigs known to man. But it gives us time to look at the scenery and enjoy a Sunday drive.
  2. Then you take your measurements down to the local store...But first... look at how the thing is screwed together. I mean How do you take it apart. There are several different standard vents. Some come with screws and some with the one the pin goes through. There is nothing like going to the rv store just to find out you need to know what your rv takes. Then having to drive home again to find out. If they don't sell your size, you might need to custom order on which can be pricey.
  3. It would be easy to find out. Step one: Go to your tool box. Step two: Get out a measuring tape. Step three climb the ladder on your rig. Step four Take your measuring tape out and measure. Wall-la you have your measurements!
  4. I like the saying "Elvis has left the building"... Or you can wave like a girl in a parade... "Hi...It's me." It's better than cringing and saying words that are not good for the hearing ears!
  5. The sound effects only occur occasionally when coming out of a steep driveway. I do need to replace the air bag hoses though.. My toyota is 27 year old. I'm Just waiting for the bank roll to get a little bigger and then I will fix it! The castor wheel idea is funny. Do they really work? You can say that you are driving a "jerry rig" !
  6. You guys are so funny! I sort of like the hard hat idea...Yep... you won't be doing that again...
  7. My friend told me to put a foam pad..
  8. I have a six foot couch/sofa/bed that I rarely sit on. I prefer the comfort of my easy chairs. The sofa area is wasted space! So What I did was took a board cut it to about 4 feet and set it on the top of the back of the sofa. I now have place to put my stuff. And I can still get into the cab over bed and sit on the sofa if I choose. Corners too can become wasted space...I bought a corner shelf. Put two screws into the wall. Took thin wire and wrapped the wire to shelf brackets. IT stays put when I am driving. Use Velcro and E-6000 glue to hold down nick nacks. It's nice to have your nick nacks and pretty stuff around with out breaking.
  9. On page two...on the very bottom of the page you will find what I did on under the listing Accordian door.
  10. I went to home depot and bought a vinyal plastic accordian door cut it to size and hung it up on the wall between kitchen and dining area. i dislike curtains! If you go to the bottom of this forum page you can see my old posts. I not only put up the vinyal door I also made a wall for the the bed and drivers area.
  11. I swear we drive the lowest rigs known to man. Any dip in the road and the bumper drags and scrappppes the pavement. Anybody in hearing distance turns their head to see what in the world all the commotion is about. It's just me in my little RV. I rolled down the window in the parking lot of the local grocery store and said to the people standing by: "I'm suprised the bumper is still intact." But what the heck...we love our little low rider rigs ! They are the best. Does any one else out there have the same sound effects?
  12. How many of you out there have hit your head getting in and out of the cab of your little RV? Nobody has ever told me that I would become the hunchback of Noterdam getting in and out of my rig. I hit the top of my head so many times in the same spot over the past few days. In fact one time it brought me to my knees...ouch and when I stood back up I hit it again. I am learning to lean over like the hunchback of Noterdam and take several steps out before I stand straight up. At least the bruises on the top of my head are healing. Seriously...is there anybody else besides me?
  13. Eww! Even so in reality if you have ever been off road or boondocking, seriously when do you have time to vacuum? It is easier to sweep sand and dirt out the door than it is to haul out a vaccum. I don't have any where to store one in my small space
  14. Hi, That is a great Idea...Hide your money and valubles in your rice, noodles cereal...never thought about that. even so, using the extra space works.
  15. I have a 1987 Toyota New Horizon. When we are living in a small space it seems there is never enough room for our extra food containers and the like. Here is what I did. I have a 6 foot long couch. the front of it comes off after unscrewing the four screws. It is one long wooden piece. On one of the corners, I took a long screw and put it in one of the holes. I use the small space under the couch for extra coffee, Plastic milk jugs filled with dry food, Plastic containers with lids etc. When I need something from under the couch, I just unscrew that one long screw and get the items I need.It is a great hiding place for money and other valubles. What thief would think of taking the couch apart to get to your goodies?
  16. I have a 1987 Toyota New Horizon 22'. When you have pets you are always looking for spots in the rv to put your pet food On the market, they have small narrow plastic containers that will hold 17-24 lbs of food. Still what am I going to do with the container? Look around. Here is what I did. I looked under the sink and of course it was the perfect spot for Fido/fluffys food but there were a few shelves in the way. I Got down on all fours and stretching unscrewed the screws and wa-la an instant space. Fido's now taken care of! Shelves are now in storage awaiting return.
  17. I have a 1987 Toyota New Horizon 22'. There is never enough space in a small RV for your paperwork, your computer, your printer, and copy paper and books. Have you ever noticed that it ends up all over the place when you are parked and wanting to relax? And just when you think you have it organized when you are driving down the road something spills and you have paper flying all over the place...oopps there went the bills flying out the window...what about my laptop....?? Here is what I did. I took out one of my seats and put it in storage. Then I measured the space and gave it to Roberto my local handy man and told him what I wanted. He used very light weight material and made me a desk with a couple of shelves and a door that opens and of course locks. He bolted it down to the wall using L shaped hooks. I use a folding chair and when driving it goes behind the other seat. It also comes in handy when wanting to sit outside beside the rv and watch the seagulls by the sea shore.
  18. I have a 1987 Toyota New Horizon. 22' When we live in brick and mortar houses we have many rooms. Not so in an rv. It is all one room. But it doesn't have to be. I wanted to sit in my living room and not have to look up at my messy bedroom with stuff all over the place. I also wanted some privacy and security. Shut the door and go to sleep. So at first I put up a curtain. It worked but looked tacky. So this is what I did. I made a sliding privacy door! I measured top and bottom. length, height and width. Then I went to Home Depot. I bought a light weight wall paneling. I wanted two boards cut. I gave them my measurements and they cut it for me right there. I had to cut the rest of the shape by hand...easy to do. Then I bought a aluminum window/ closet door slider They also cut it to size for me using a hack saw. I took the materials home. Put one slider on the ceiling. Screwed it in place(using very short screws) and did the same thing to the bottom. Then I put the sliding "doors"(wall paneling) together in place. They bend easy. And wa-la an instant bedroom. To finish the look I bought some cool looking wooden handles for $1.99. I put some photographs of family and friends on the outside door to doll it up a bit. I made sure that I kept the windows open for ventilation until the smell of the new wall paneling went away.
  19. I have a 1987 Toyota New Horizon 22' with a rear door and rear kitchen. In our brick and mortar houses, we have many different rooms. Sometimes, adapting to a small space can be a challenge. I felt I needed a least two rooms. A kitchen space and a living room. So I hung a curtain across the wall to separate two spaces. It worked for a while but it was tacky. What to do? I went to Home Depot and bought a vinyl accordian door. It is light weight. and easy to install. I just cut it to size, hung it up and with in a few minutes, I had a real living room. Now, I don't have to sit on my "sofa" and look at the dirty dishes sitting in the sink waiting for me to wash them. I just shut the door and relax. That is what I as an RV-er should be doing after all! Isn't it?
  20. I have a 1987 Toyota New Horizon 22'. When I bought her, she was already 23 years old. One look at the carpet and you could tell it needed to be replaced! Do I buy a new carpet or do I put in "hard wood floors?" Well, I hate to vaccum and have two dogs to boot! So the answer became obvious. Instead of putting in another carpet, I pulled out the old one and went down to Home depot and bought vinyl flooring. You know the ones you snap together. It looks like hard wood floors. It took me a few hours to install. Okay, so it took me 6 hours ( a man could have done it in 3) to put it together but in it went. In the rear kitchen, I choose a few vinyl square tiles and put a door strip to seperate the kitchen area from the living area. Now I sweep and mop away to my hearts content and I don't have to worry about doggy hair or other such stuff. Never be afraid to do something new!
