  1. For the thickness, if you measure the wheel back-spacing (or offset) and make the thickness the same as the difference between 5 and 6 lug rims, your tire will end up in the same location (and distance from the bearings).
  2. Well, there is such a thing as a 1-Ton Single Rear Wheel that had 5 lug wheels front and rear. Perhaps your VIN isn't so very wrong. 5 lugs does not necessarily mean 1/2-Ton. I believe there was also a 3/4-Ton.
  3. I'm guessing you don't want something like this:- http://1.bp.blogspot...-026-lo-res.jpg If you look here you might get some construction ideas. Check the builder's photos. http://www.glen-l.co...lderphotos.html
  4. I'm thinking your 4m (13ft) length is very conservative. And there's still the volume/surface area of the bunk/overcab to be added. You seem to be very 'metric'. Are you in the GWN too?
  5. I'm just North of Montreal and haven't tested the insulation in Winter. All I know is that there's not much and plenty of drafts to go with it. Typically, a Dolphin is 6'-2" high, 80" wide, both inside dimensions. Overall length (outside) is 21' but I've never measured from the cab back, but it's way longer than you plan!! BTW, that looks like you did a nice job on the BMW.
  6. But from his description, his setup will be maybe 1/4 of the volume of a Dolphin. With good insulation, you could almost heat that with a candle.
  7. You can start with this:- http://thesupercamper.blogspot.com/2006/09/super-camper-inspiration-concept-and.html I wouldn't use a woodstove. You might wake up one day, dead! I'd rather double up on the insulation and you might be amazed at how much body heat will keep a small volume warm. A small dog also makes an excellent 'hot water bottle'!
  8. See if you can get the VIN for the donor. Then maybe entering it in to one of these sites might give you a P.N. for the original caliper:- http://www.toyotapartszone.com/toyota-truck-pickup-parts.html http://www.toyotapartseast.com/toyota-truck-pickup-parts.html https://www.1sttoyotaparts.com/oempartscat.html I'm guessing these 3 all use the same database. Another possible source:- http://epc.uhaul.com/LinkOne/Viewer/Book.aspx?ReturnUrl=/LinkOne/Viewer/book.aspx?book=u-haul/toyota&book=u-haul/toyota
  9. Could you drill a hole in the side of the knob and into the shaft and insert a pin?
  10. Well, you could always call the yard's bluff. Will they agree to take the calipers back and pay shipping both ways if they're wrong?
  11. My thoughts: Let the springs do the 'springing'. The air springs should only be there to make adjustments for different loads. The exception, of course, would be a suspension designed specifically around air springs, which the Toyota pickup isn't.
  12. If you can get to San Diego fast you could buy this one: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/rvs/2895457356.html http://gallery.me.com/incitekerry#100033 I'd be afraid to get it dirty!
  13. Changed my vote from 'Maybe' (could have been a well executed swap) to 'Yes'. LN44 in the VIN indicates it left the Factory as a long bed pickup with a 2.2L diesel installed.
  14. Bryan, since you're still monitoring this: You say you're planning to use a Landcruiser front axle. Have you considered using a Landcruiser rear axle as well with SRW? I thing the Landcruiser GVWR is 6000lbs, so it should handle it.
  15. I think a roof rack and ladder were pretty much standard issue on the common brands. The exception to that would be the Winnebago Warrior.
  16. Seized fasteners are always a PITA in exhaust work. The safest way to undo a fastener that's been subjected to high heat and corrosion for decades is with an acetylene torch. A sheared off stud is not easy (usually) or cheap to replace.
  17. It seems a (very) few were made. Main problem was power (or lack thereof). The original 'L' Series had 62HP. That's not much to move 5500-6000lbs!
  18. So you were 'running out of gas' going up hill. Pump wasn't keeping up. Glad it's fixed. Happy trails.
  19. Just a note on size. Must Toyota MH have 6'-2" headroom. The Odyssey is tallest at 6'-3". Sunraders are reported to be the shortest (by an inch or two?) but I don't remember reading a measurement anywhere. Might be important to you or not.
  20. The Boondocking Group is 99% politics. But if that's you thing ... You could also Google 'Van Camping', 'Work camping' & 'Stealth Camping'. Even if you won't be doing either (perhaps), there's lots of useful info that can be transferred to a small MH. A campground host sounds like a reasonable gig. I think they usually include a spot with hookups.
  21. Blowing back through the gasline, as suggested by 5toyota, would probably unblock it long enough to see if the sock/strainer is plugged up. Then more drastic steps could be taken for a permanent fix.
  22. You've checked the fuel PRESSURE. Is there a procedure in the manual to check the FLOW? I'm on dial-up, so it would take me days to download it to look myself. I'm wondering if a fuel line might be crimped while the tank was being moved.
