  1. Missed talkin' to you Folks. Recent financial reverses due to a divorce and my old computer giving up the ghost dictated I drop the internet for a while. Hopefully, a ways down the road, things will break loose again and I can bore the heck otta ya'll again. Till then . , keep the dirty side down... John
  2. A lot of times you can download info from the manufacturers websites. So, like Dometic for frigds, etc. Running gear goes with Toyota manuals.Great thing about this is you get up to date info, not something 30 years old.A big plus for me is some sites have tech help forums. Free help at the backside of your keyboard.Jump on that like a duck onna junebug, Folks.
  3. Welcome... Glad your gonna rebuild. We all are interested in any projects, especially with pictures. It's a a me too, me too, kinda thing. John
  4. Howdy... Check out and talk to LC Engineering. They have all the way from mild to wild. Pricey, but good. They know Toys.
  5. Try here... http://www.tweetys.com/Guide-Lights-Reflectors.aspx Hope this helps..
  6. Howdy... Up at the top of this Forum is 4 pinned subjects. One of them is about engine swaps for Toys. Check that out. 75 mph. on an old MH. is extreme, in my opinion. Course, I'm only basing this on 35 years experience as a Mechanic.
  7. Howdy ... Usually the black wires go to positive on the house battery. As does the redwire. White is usually on the negative post. But a good idea would be to use a test light from the wires to ground to make sure. Some manufacturers moved into a grey area here, could be black to ground. Its' best to use the test light and make sure.
  8. Howdy Sean... Open the hood. At the back of the engine compartment right in the middle of the firewall is a plate. That should be the vin. Hope this helps. John
  9. Look up at the top of this forum. There is a pinned post about rebuilding these trannys. Good luck with it. John
  10. First, price sounds good. Second, walk inside and knock on walls and see if floor and walls feels or sound spongy. If so, your going to have to deal with rot. Third, test drive. Be very critical here. Make sure all lights work, engine runs well, and most important, see if brakes will stop you. It will take longer to accelerate and stop with a motor home because of the weight. Forth, make sure it has a dual wheel rear axle. Hope this helps. John
  11. I'm with ya on the pic thing, Baj. I found this site to be cool for pic shrinking. http://www.ask.com/bar?q=photo+resize&page=1&qsrc=0&ab=0&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.shrinkpictures.com%2F. Ya, I think a max of 225 kb is about right.
  12. Check out avatar of 1986 Sunrader. 22 RE turbo charged. Gladwin,Mi. Nickname of motorhome, " Against the Wind", for obvious reasons. Nick name of owner/driver, " Ol'Poop", for obvious reasons.
  13. Just a suggestion, Barb. If ya don't like who you're travelling with, throw it in the passengers seat. Oh, you better put it in a plastic bag first.
  14. Howdy Everest... Two suggestions. The lighter only works if the key is turned on the run position. If the key is on, but the lighter still don't work, use a test light or a voltmeter and touch the center of the lighter socket. If it shows voltage then probably the element is bad. You can buy a new element at any auto parts store. Hope this helps... John
  15. howdy Andy... Look on the VIN plate on the firewall. It usually has a paint number that an auto paint shop can match. That's the way I did it when I needed my hood painted. Usually the house body manufacturer matched the paint Toyota furnished with the cab unit. Luck Bloke John
  16. Howdy Andy... Glad to see your aboard. Enjoy the Toy, they grow on you.
  17. Howdy Yoyoman... You might want to change the fuel filter also. I don't quite understand the rear axle change. Did he change the whole rear axle, or just pulled one wheel off each side?
  18. Howdy Bigneu... If your Dlphin is like my Rader underneath, the spare tire is mounted beneath the rear of the rig behind the rear axle. The spare is on a cable that goes to a little winch mounted above the spare. You get to the winch by coming in the backside above the spare tire with one of the jack extensions, going into a socket on the winch . This sounds easy, but usually the MH manufacturer mounted the MH's rear bumper in line with the space needed to get to the winch operating socket. You may be able to use a 1/4 inch extension with a screw driver blade and a 1/4 inch rachet to reach into the winch socket and crank the spare down. Hope this is a help to ya.. John
  19. Ahhhh! Some people just know quality when their buying chimes are rung. Us better than average buyers shine in the midnight sun. I , too, have an '86 Sunrader. Everybidy else really envies us. I really do get tired of justifiably preening ... Raders rock John
  20. Howdy OlympicMtnBoy... That's a really cool rig. When ya get one set of lights not workin' when you use another set of lights, check the ground contacts on the light bulb bases. Also, if ya have a trailer harness on the rig, check for corrosion at the taps in the tail light circuit wires. Hope this helps... John
  21. Andeanna, the best way to answer all your questions is to look up at the title banner on this page and use the search function. A lot of you questions have been answered many time here. Hope this helps. John
  22. Here's another thought ! Could be a lousy stretchy belt. Try another brand of belt an see what happens. I have heard Dayco are about the best. John
  23. Okay... thoughts and comments ! Do they make any 5th wheel campers the same length as the house on the Toy ? If the 5th wheeler is longer what do you do with the extra length ? How about the weight of the 5th wheeler compared to the weight of the house on the toy?If it weighs more, could be trouble. How about the effort to modify the 5th wheeler to fit on the frame of the Toy? Would it be equal or more to just replacing the rotten members in the present house ? Hope I didn't harsh your buzz here, but how about the value at resale ? If you told a prospective buyer you cross bred the unit, what would their reaction be to your offering ? I would expect them to hold up crossed fingers between ye and thee and they would run away yelling, " Unclean ! Unclean!" Just my old guy clasped hands over belly response to an enthusiastic young ideas person. Hope you choose well... John
