  1. Hi, I followed the repair manual and removed the instrument panel but cannot find my turn signal flasher. 1979 Sunrader but the truck is a 1978. I looked near the fuse panel, under the radio area from beneath, under the hood. The flasher I got from Advance Auto Parts is a roundish cylinder shaped like a stack of 25 quarters with two metal connectors sticking out from one end perpendicularly oriented to one another. Would anyone be able to give advice to help me replace my flasher? If not, how should I begin to find it? Thanks ever so much for any tips or help!
  2. Hi - Not being able to find led replacement tail/blinker/reverse lights, does anyone know where I can find just any replacement rear light panels that will fit a sunrader? thanks very much for any help or direction!
  3. Hi and thanks for all the help w/ these motorhomes! I thought I had seen someone posting links to led tail light assemblies (blinker, tail, breaks) that fit into Sunraders. I have a 1979 Sunrader and am looking to replace my old ones with leds. Thanks very much for any help finding these.

  5. thanks Maineah and Bikercowboy for the useful information! I got two of these (white and yellow): http://www.ledlight.com/s25-39-led-light.aspx I'll post when they arrive with how well they light the 18' Sunrader. ;0) thanks again to you both!!
  6. Hi, I have a 1979 Sunrader and would like to put led lights in my dc light sockets. They are small and look like the same sockets as there are for typical taillights. What are peoples favorites brand and model led light bulbs that would fit in these sockets? Also, can these lights or any led lights be purchased from the local auto parts store? Thanks very much in advance!
  7. Also, am I correct to guess that because my hazards flash fine, and my signals dont, that it is indeed a signal flasher that I need? Thanks very much for any help.
  8. Hi - The truck is a 1978, but the vehicle is a 1979 Sunrader. I bought a flasher from advance auto parts but when i look under the fuse area and dash, I cant find anything that looks similar to replace. The one I got is round with two flat metal pieces coming out one end. Anyone know where it should go or can anyone direct me to an appropriate manual I can purchase online? Thanks very much!
  9. Hi - I love this site. I think the shoutbox should have its own page and not be on index and definitely not on every page. I think any useful info that is passed there is not preserved like it is in the forum posts. Also, I cannot shut it properly with my browser and I wish there were a way to disable it altogether in my profile. Definitely a distraction, though it looks like some people really get happy with it. So, if I was running this site, I would disable it altogether and keep the goods to the threads. ;0) --thanks for asking!
  10. Hi - I have heard that some people burn up their fridges when turning them on if they dont know what they are doing and I dont know what I am doing w/ the fridge, so I figured to ask how it should be turned on. It looks like a gas/electric model and it is on my 1979 Sunrader. Thanks!!
  11. Thanks for the tip Allen! Did you get these fuel lines at a general auto parts store by asking them by make and model or did you have to measure? I am guessing there is one line that comes from the tank to the fuel filter and one from the filter to the carb? thanks again!
  12. Hi - thanks for the help on this forum. It certainly saves everyone time and money. Thats greatly appreciated. My 79 Sunrader only has 16,000 miles on it and it was sitting for a while and has some rust underneath. It has real hesitation issues when I drive down the road, but when I floor it, they usually go away. Even if I am going 50-55 on the highway, it still feels like there is an issue with getting enough gas into the engine. How do I diagnose this? I am guessing it is either a faulty fuel pump, corroded fuel lines, clogged/corroded carbeurator parts, but not the fuel filter, cause I have replaced that once already with no improvement. Thanks very much! It has the 20-R engine and I think the truck is actually a 1978.
  13. Thanks for the help with this. No A/C - I resealed the top vent w/ butyl. I havent yet driven it again in a rainstorm, but here is what I think is happening: The top vent is sorta old and flimsy, so when I close it all the way, I can still easily lift up one of the back corners and look right through. Would the wind driving down the road at 70mph be enough to lift the vent corner(s) and let in enough water to entirely soak my table bed (which I had set up at the time), as well as the rear part of the cab bed? I believe it could happen, but I just dont think it happened that way. There was just too much water coming in. I still think it had a lot to do with the water that was just coming in the cab windows I had lowered fully to bring fresh air through so that the exhaust from the cracked manifold didnt smell so bad. Thanks very much for the help with this - If nothing else, I'll report back with another storm, one which I hope to meet as I leave Maine south near the middle of August. Also, would one of those MaxxAirII vents be a solution to this instead of replacing the top vent, if it does happen to be too flimsy? It just doesnt keep a strong seal when I close it down. Not sure if the seal shrunk or the plastic grew weak, but I have not problem lifting the cover and peeking in with it fully "shut".
  14. I'm going to re-butyl the top window / vent at least, as that is the most likely reason for the rainstorm in my sunrader, as I traveled the highway. I just dont think having both windows down could amount to soaking the mid-bed and rear part of the top bed. The seal on the top looks cracked, but I dont see how so much water could get in to soak the cushions. In any case, Im going to reseal it and eventually drive through another rainstorm to see if it still leaks. If it is standing still, no water comes into the Sunrader. Strange one, eh?
  15. Super thanks! I appreciate the instruction, Bodybagger.
  16. Hi - I see water that is coming in and dampening the cardboard that surrounds the lpg unit. If I am correct, this is where the water heater and gas controls are, just behind the drivers door, on my 1979 Sunrader. When I lift up the couch cushion and seating board, I see the wet-ish cardboard, and I can see from the outside that the water dripping from the window above is going right into a crack in the old, weathered rubber seal that surround the metal lpg casing? thing? I take off the vented metal outside plate and see all the knobs and valves, etc., for the water heater? So then I remove the square indented screws (about 10-12 of them) and try to pull the metal part out, but it wont remove, I think because its attached to the back gas lines, etc. What do I have to remove from under the couch seat so that I can pry off the metal housing of the lpg unit? Thanks!! :0)
  17. Hi - I'm trying to track down where my leaks are on my 79 Sunrader. It's the one pictured in my profile. It doesnt leak when it is not moving in a rainstorm, but when I am driving down the highway, I can see a rainstorm when I look over my shoulder. The lower table/bed area got soaked, and the upper bed got soaked on the rear (towards the back of vehicle) part as well. From the outside, the top main center vent looks well sealed, though it is cracking already. When I look up from inside through the top main center vent, I can see daylight and the lower part of the fixture is very loose. Im guessing that the top flaps in the wind and water gets in? Also, Im not sure that this is the cause, because my manifold was cracked and I had to drive through the storm with both my truck cab windows down, and I know some water came because I saw a drop curve into my window and land right through the hole of my coffee cup in hand! It seemed like a lot of water coming in because when I would be driving at 70 on the highway and put my right hand back into the back area and high up, I could feel droplets of water whizzing around in the wind. Any idea if this would be because of *just* my windows being down? (I had to open the rear window as well so that the exhaust could move out of my cab.) Thanks for any tips. I got some of the recommended butyl tape and have it for repairing the first crucial set of problem leak areas. Please advise if you think of what might be the cause of this water coming in. Much appreciated!
  18. I'll get back w/ the number of bolts. Thanks for your insight Maineah.
  19. I think both - A different axle and it is no longer a dually. I did change the fuel filter, thanks!
  20. Yes - I have a titled 1979 Sunrader, but the parts that most fit it are for 1978. It also has a 6 digit VIN.
  21. Cool, thanks GG! ---I'm going to inspect those areas first on my new Sunrader. Thanks!
  22. Thanks Gulfstream Greg -- Are you referring to the first or fourth post on this thread? thanks!
  23. Hi - I just got a 1979 Sunrader. It has 13,900 miles on it and I wanted to get peoples advice on what I should make sure of as I begin to drive and work on it. Im already replacing the clutch, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, new front caliper and pads, new exhaust manifold gasket, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and a few other more minor things. It has a fair amount of rust underneath, but the inside is very clean. It has the 20-R engine. What should I look for that might need attention. It doesnt appear to have any water damage at all. It was a dually back end, but the owner switched it to only have two wheels on the rear axle. I'll post pics as soon as I get back to my house a few states away. Thanks very much for any advice and help! :0)
  24. Thanks to both for the replies. Here's another one I'm looking at, which I thought was the same as the previous. It's a little harder to see, but any guesses from this small picture as to whether it's *good* or not? Thanks much!
