Guys, The lighting the fridge from the rear did the trick. One by one the other appliances got propane. I am so grateful for the advice.

Can anyone give me some ideas on how to fix this issue with my 86 Odyssey. The stove lights up fine (there is no oven only stovetop). The fridge will not light. I get a "flash" the first few times, but after that nothing. The thermostat heater (auto-ignition) runs the fan, but it's cold air only. The hot water heater pilot will not light. I'm assuming that all 3 of these appliances are not getting propane, since it's inconceivable to me that they all decided to fail independently. My tank was recently filled up. All of these appliances worked just fine a year ago. Due to illness, the RV has been sitting since then, with only the weekly engine startup routine. I'm looking solutions to get all propane-fired appliances to light up as they should. I'm sure someone out there has knowledge of this issue and can guide me to a fix.

Fred, that did the trick Extech, thanks for that info. Now that I got the regulator removed, I want to replace it. Anything I should know?

Wow, that never occurred to me. The nut is pretty well rounded off now, but maybe I can get it off with vice grips. I'll give that a try. Thanks.

Well it turns out the regulator is so far impossible to remove. Everything looks like it could be replaced. Would you have any links to a complete replacement of tank (with shutoff and gauge) and regulator? I see Home Depot has steel 5 gal for around $50.

I pulled my 86 Odyssey up to a propane filling station and we couldn’t see a filling nozzle on my tank. Can anyone tell me how I get this tank filled up?

I'm looking for someone local with experience in Toyota RV's to fix some issues and get the RV ready for the market. I'm willing to pay for the work and you'd probably need to be located in the greater Orange County, California area. Here's the list of items that need attention: 1) Solar. Everything (panels, wiring, etc.) was installed by a previous owner, but it has no backup battery, so I don't know if it works or not nor how to hook everything up even if I bought a battery. I want it be able sell it as off-grid ready. I will purchase whatever is necessary to make that a reality. I just need your electrical know-how. 2) Propane-powered appliances. Right now, only my stove works. The fridge (Dometic) will not light and doesn't seem to work on AC. The heater won't blow hot air and the hot water heater pilot will not light. There is plenty of propane in the tank and the stovetop lights fine. If you're interested, I will provide my phone number and we can talk about the details and compensation offline. Jimmy

Hi All, Can anyone give me some ideas on what could be happening with my 86 Odyssey. It has been sitting for about a year (illness) and none of the appliances have been running during that time. Recently, I fired it up and started going through everything for functionality. The stove lights up fine (there is no oven only stovetop). The fridge will not light. The heater (auto-ignition) runs the fan, but it's cold air only. The hot water heater pilot will not light. I'm assuming that all 3 of these are not getting propane. For propane supply, I'm only aware of the valve on the propane tank itself and an inline valve on the heater to send gas to the appliances. If the stove wouldn't light, it might be easier to figure out what's going on (tank empty). I'm thinking there must be additional shutoff valves that feed these other appliances that is either turned off or malfunctioning. I just can't find any other valve in the propane tank bay. Am I missing something simple? Jimmy

Hi All, Has anyone found an accurate VIN spec lookup tool for these Toyota Motorhomes? Mine is a 1986, but I keep getting results for a 2016 Celica or 4-runner. I’m trying to order some light covers and turn signal assembly. Based on wrong information given by a car parts website, I ordered the wrong part. Luckily they took it back. My VIN also keeps showing a carbureted engine, when it’s actually EFI. Thanks in advance.

I successfully dropped the tank without resorting to cutting or damaging anything. The shower lateral waste lrun broke off inside of the Wye that goes to the tank. I just have some minor repair work here. I also need to replace the rubber to the tank. It’s 1-1/2”. Before I put everything back together, I’m going to put a washer and locking nut up against the undercarriage to make darn sure I don’t have to go through this difficulty if I need to drop the tank in the future.

I should have mentioned that I tried the vice grips trick to no avail. I'm going to try to cut the nut off. If that doesn't work I've got a couple more ideas to try out. Will let you know what worked (or didn't).
