  1. Lifepo4 rated converter direct to battery. The DC to DC charger does have limits and you need to understand them. But for small Toyota size setups it's easy and fast.

I have shore power, a 5.5kw  generator  and a 2000w inverter. There is an automatic transfer switch (ats) between shore power and the generator. I also installed an Gopower GP-TS 30 ATS between the inverter and converter. When your using the inverter the ATS unplugs the converter so your not trying to charge the 12v battery when your running the inverter off the battery. That would be Perpetual motion, right😁

So my AC power flow is 1. generator power powers everything, 2.  shore power powers everything, 3 Inverter powers everything EXCEPT converter and AC. It's all automatic no plug and unplug stuff. It seems backwards between generator and shore power, but that prevents the generator or inverter from back feeding the shore power plug if you were into shore power, the power failed and you started the generator or inverter. Anybody working on the down shore power line much appreciates this.

  2. Got the same problem AGM starter battery and a 12v 200ah lifepo4 house battery.

Here is info on my solution. If you don't have solar this is a good choice BECAUSE it has a built in MPPT solar controller and you can add solar later by buying just solar panels

  3. Toyota 22r compression specs, warm engine

    Nominal 170 psi

    Minimum  142 psi

Max variation between high and low cylinder 14 psi

Remove ALL the sparkplugs, block the throttle wide open, EFI? remove the fuel pump fuse. Then do the compression check.

If the readings are low, a couple squirts of oil in each cylinder, one at a time and then bump the start for a few revs. Recheck compression, if still low, suspect bad valves. If the readings jump up to normal, suspect bad rings

  4. I would normally say to check out the Harbor Freight generators, as I have had very good luck with them. But they have reshuffled their line up and their generators are too large or too small (2000w or 3500w). Champion has a good lineup of generators.

Linda and extech have good points about noise and weight. If you are using a portable Genset you want to run it on the ground so your RV doesn't act like a sound board and of course you want it as far away as possible. Just remember to chain it to the RV so it doesn't "grow legs and walk away"

  5. 1. A Kohler is NON SUPPORTABLE.

    2. An Onan 2800w generator, new is $2500-3000, used $800 and up. Don't forget install costs.

3 A HF 3500w inverter generator is $900,  less if you watch coupons. It is simple plug in.

I have had HF inverter generators for power outages at home.  First one was 2000/1600 watt unit it would run 1 fridge and a propane furnace.

Other house had a 3500w unit, It would run gas furnace and 2 fridges. Plus essential TVs, internet and some house lighting.

The 2000 w unit would probably run your AC IF you installed a insta start booster. But that's about it.

The 3500 w unit should run your  stock AC and have enough overhead to run a microwave.

There are other brand quality Inverter generators, due diligence is needed.

"Industrial" generators are cheaper, noisier and burn more gas.

So like how off grid are you going to be.

Generators would be cheaper, but have you thought about solar?? There have been a couple of 12v AC conversions on this site

  6. If there was bad gas in the fuel tank, then there was bad gas in the fuel lines. Did you flush the lines too. There can be enough bad dirty fuel to plug the injectors.

Critter nest under the hood, a critter nest in the air cleaner box is possible. Also critters LOVE plastic wire coating, any chewed wiring??

  7. Random thoughts.

You can replace the cooling unit with fridge inside the RV. Lay it door down on a some bath towels or scrap carpet.  If everything goes pear shaped, the fridge can be removed through the passenger door, BUT the seat has to come out first.

Can you see ANY difference in the flame as you turn the thermostat?? When you tried to re start the fridge did it gurgle? (bad)

  8. Ideas from the cheap seats🤡.

If a wack didn't turn it back on. Try the old stand by. Take it out and turn it over for a day, putting it on its side helps too. Whacking it in all positions doesn't hurt.

I've had a 30% success with this procedure.

Take an air compressor and blow out the boiler stack (tall skinny thing), rust flakes can block air flow.
