How many BTU's is the overhead A/C
-
Unless its fully equipped, has axle upgrade and is just perfect, your off by a couple of grand. "Average" for an 84 would be $4000 or so.

Something that heavy a V-6 is a must. You should also plan on reinforcing the frame welds were the extenstions are welded on. Most are just butt welded.
Better gears like 4.56 or 4.88 and a bigger trannie cooler. Your towd needs working brakes cause the Toy is already overloaded as far as brakes go.

I went to Home Depot and got a roll of the Refeletix insulation. Removed the seats and pulled up the floor cover. Using the special tape I laid a piece over the trannie hump. Then cut and laid another layer over the whole cab floor . Reinstalled carpet and seats.
It made a big difference in the amount of heat comming in.

I noticed that EB now has a smaller cam for the Rock Crawlers.
Can't how much of the improved hill climb is cam and how much is overboared TB.
Did both about the same time..

I'm running the EB cam on a stock head now. I notice a small decrease off idle, but in the mountains there are a lot more climbs at 45mph instead of 35mph. It will also run at 70mph on the flats with out even breathing hard ( no O/D) but thats 4200 rpm or so.
Mostly it gets driven at 60-65, like 3700RPM

The cam is a 270 deg unit from engnbldr.com

Winter/Spring
Its sort tough to work on your Toy when its -10 deg
So I've been collecting parts for a spring fling.
A new ported head with O/S valves and a set rings so far.
Final setup is a 22RE with RV cam, 2mm oversized TB, 2.25" exhaust and the new head. This shoud make about as much power as a turbo

Ya about 2.6L stroker would be just what the Doctor ordered for a slightly over weight Toy MH.
-
Too much is not enough. This summer its just drive it. Next winter is oversized valves, 3 angle seats, maybe a little port matching.

On an 86 with EFI. K&N air filter, 2mm overboard TB, RV 270 deg cam. 2"muffler into 2.25" tail pipe.
Somewhere around 135hp I would guess
GENERATOR FOR TOYOTA MINI
in General Discussion

On a hot day my Onan 2800 micro lite will just start my 13,500 BTU roof air. I have to turn off the A/C compressor (raise the temp on the thermostat) to run the Microwave.
Most early Toys came with a Koler or Onan 3000 watt generator, the later ones have the Onan 2800 watt Micro lite.
IF you change the roof air to a 7000 btu unit the 1850 generator will run it OK. A lot of folks go this route because most of the time a new A/C and 2kw generator is cheaper that a Onan RV generator.
Or you can but a 3kw industrial unit for $500 and mount it on the bumper. But they are nosier than the RV units
