  1. wow 65 views and not a single reply... im so glad i got such a "heartwarming" "welcome back to the forum" from everyone... well at any rate i dont care what it is worth... my 84 is WAY nicer than my 83 toy was... and i got 4 grand out of my 83... i will probably just use mine until summer and sell it.
  2. looks like a pretty nice one... approaching high miles... check and see if it has had the timing chain and guides replaced... never seen that layout on the interior before but i like it. these things are so much fun... if i were you i would offer the owner 5-6 grand for it and see what happens... 1. Buy it (or a different one) now while its out of season... dont wait until spring or you will pay more. 2. drive it to ALASKA! you will have a blast. these things are so much fun.
  3. why are you telling us? GO BUY IT!
  4. my novice advice: never drive through phoenix in a yodahome with 5 lugs. phoenix scares me. but seriously, good luck with your predicament, I would look at that rv salvage place dennis listed...
  5. hey john, im in oxford ohio NW of cinci.... where are you at? u guys with the sunraders make me jealous... they seem like the hands down nicest yodahomes to have...
  6. hey Im glad you decided to GO FOR IT! with the paint job... very unique yet presentable look... im also curious what the paint cost? AND what kind of "two dogs" do u have in that thing with your wife and daughter??? be safe and have a great time...
  7. 3 months? you must have urethane-sealed yourselves in??!?!??!! lol 3 months in mexico living in a sunrader... wow... im impressed. i wish some of you guys who live in your motorhomes would write a daily blog of your adventures... meanwhile back to your regularly scheduled thread: my vent above my cabin just started leaking after a bad freeze-thaw ice/rain storm we just had... and wouldnt you know it the previous owners used silicon of all things... so i dont know what im going to do... i never could figure out how to repair my prior toyota motorhome from the same leak... but i guess my question is: do i need to totally UN install the vent AND replace it, in order to seal it? Im hoping i can just put a bandaid on it but thats how it got to this point to begin with...
  8. be VERY wary and careful about ANY moneygram transaction... a member of the jeepforum i was part of was scammed out of 3000 dollars because a crooked seller wanted "proof of funds" and told the guy that if he just put 3k in moneygram and sent a fax of the receipt then he would move fwd with selling to him... when he did just that.. the scammer took info off of the receipt and used it to withdraw all 3 thousand dollars from the gullible buyers moneygram account. POOF* 3 thousand dollars GONE just like that. no way of prosecuting... these scammers sit on the beach in foreign countries where they know that USA cant prosecute, or extradite... im sure 3 thousand dollars can buy a lot of mixed drinks... be smart people... dont give anyone ANY access to your account info... probably not a good idea to buy anything sight unseen unless you have paypal buyer protection...
  9. I have to envy anyone with enough moxy to live in a toyota motorhome... especially with a cat. what kind of clear sealant are you using ? i have always been told "butyl butyl butyl" when it comes to re-sealing... how many miles are on your dolphin? if you wrote a book about living in a toyota dolphin im sure i would buy a copy. hope you get all the wet sealed out. good luck.
  10. who cares if it lowers the value? if you are looking to sell it for tip top dollar... keep it original.... if you are worried it wont be worth as much but you are having so much fun customizing... paint it anyway... its your rig, make it how you want it. just make it tasteful and get it done right and i would bet the next guy wont mind a bit. if i was shopping for a 90 toy motorhome... i wouldnt let a tasteful and professional paint job that is not original scare me off from buying... however, i would wonder why it was painted and if perhaps it was covering damage.... save lots of before, after, during pics... have a great time. be safe. dont drink the water.
  11. NICE TOY! im jealous of the 6 lugs in the front... im sure i would be jealous of alot more about a 1990! my 84 is the newest one i have owned, I must say it has some nice upgrades from my old 83 but still nowhere near as nice as a 90.... i cant wait to see the new paint job on this one... make sure you post some pics! and also just for fun, please share what it costs to get new paint on one of these... i bet i know someone who needs their toyota painted worse than you do.... mine was a cincy bengals tailgater before i bought it!
  12. so sad to see such a nice rader wrecked... do all you can to keep her on the road... its such a nice rig. good luck.
  13. i think they mean 23,950 even so... its still pretty damn pricey for a 84
  14. Yost! Your project is looking AWESOME! I got another dolphin w/o water damage this time and im back on the forum! glad to see your still working yours towards completion... very impressive.
  15. well thats a good question... i had my former insurance with them on a jeep cj7 and it cancelled because i didnt pay the month i sold the jeep... but the very next month i called them for a quote and thats what they quoted me... so i paid them up for 6 months and didnt ask too many questions... lol i had no current policies with them and this policy is my only vehicle. good luck!
  16. I just insured with geico... 48 dollars for 6 months. must say you will be driving for 30 days or less a year, also i told them i only planned on driving it 5k miles a year.... and also say that you wont be driving it to work... not a bad deal at all... it is bare bones liability however.
  17. my 83 had 105k on it no foul engine noises whatsoever... in two days im picking up an 84... 122k miles... even better than the last one... just dont drink the water! you will be fine... drive slow and have fun...
  18. hey kirawhacky420 I would love to be a gypsy leaf on the winds of a toyo motorhome... so more power to you and your decision to live in it... i am just DYING to know... what kind of places you are planning to tour..??? you dont need to be specific... but what states? and also what kind of events do you enjoy crashing with the toy camper? the last time i took "flipper" (my former toyota dolphin) to a festival it was a huge hit with the kids... i had about 7 people crammed into it at any given rainy moment. Im picking up my "new" 84 dolphin in two days... I cant wait...
  19. so I am going to pull the trigger on a 84 toyota dolphin (my second one!) but the sink, fridge, stove and some of the cabinetry was pulled out to make more passenger room for a tailgating machine... they did a pretty good job using the space for more seating and making new storage underneath a new bench and then they re-upholstered the cushions and made everything look uniform... i dont mind the missing amenities as i appreciate the extra space and i never used those items anyway... my question is: how does this removal of said amenities affect the resale value? also the entire exterior has been painted black! i like driving unique automobiles... well id say this one will be unique allright... but for 2k dollars i just cant pass it up. i miss my old dolphin but it was too far gone with water damage so i traded it straight up even for a 4 thousand dollar jeep cj7 that i later sold for 5500.... LOL a little bit more horse-trading and i will pick up my new dolphin in the next two days... pics to follow soon! also... how can i check to ensure that the shower is still functional if the sink has been removed will it change the system? the tanks are there but what do i need to know? any help would be greatly appreciated... it will be good to be back on this forum!
  20. ok from what toyota said using my VIN number, i do have the engine mounted fuel pump. toyota seemed to think i have a leak in my fuel hose on top of the tank... leaking air into the system... i was told to do a fuel pressure test on the lines to make sure... a buddy looked at the fuel tank and told me it was wet!... Toyota said that the OLD hose usually gets a hole above the tank. things may be coming into focus with fixing this thing.
  21. hey jordanb5000 how is your project coming? please show us some more pics! spectacular work
  22. Well I have been ironing out the bugs in my 83 dolphin... after driving it about 100 miles or so... and putting some fuel system cleaner in it... I am experiencing some fuel cutoff intermittently and the vehicle loses power, lurches and sometimes stalls out alltogether... letting it cool down or re-starting it sometimes remedies the problem... I am afraid that I may be experiencing the dreaded "gas tank sat too long problem" I would like to know what you toyhouse veterans think? is it possible a new filter could solve the problem? or should i put in a new fuel pump and filter? OR... do i need a new tank? its always something...
  23. thats the coolest! welcome to the group! mind sharing what the import costs (shipping) was like? cant wait to c the interior
  24. Wow what a homey ride! the nets are a great idea. looks like a big hippie lounge to me! gotta love it. the rolling tray is a must have... i have a degree in art, i used to make hemp jewelry and stone works and i also made original art-lined rolling trays... i sold about 50 of them for 30$ each. people still come up from those days and try to order me to make them one but i make oil paintings now... dare i ask what kind of wares you guys are making in the workshop? i always like to meet other "makers" out there... seeing the inside of your ride makes me think of the grateful dead years... life on the road... thanks for the pics and congrats on your latest toy! looks like u are enjoying it....
