  1. Pager, I took the RV to work the last two days. Able to maintain 65 going up some small hills. Could hold 70 on the flats and hit 76 on a slight downhill. Runs better than it did on the way home with the manifold leak and old plugs ect. Will continue work for a trip to the Indy Corn 250 in June it is only 50 mile trip but should be a good trial and good tailgater. Will replace the other vent cover and start some serious cleaning and waxing. Wish I had the extra HP you have with the fuel injection and the 5 spd. Huxz
  2. John, I have an 85 Huntsman. If you look thru this site you will find help in almost every area you have questions about. The members have helped me with many repairs that saved me money and time by getting it right the first time. I have an owners manual for my Huntsman and they are very limited in what they give you for instructions. I did download a copy of the original sales brochure showing the 4 different layouts that were made for 85. I also have the utility brochures for my Huntsman. Be sure you have the 6 lug rear axle. Mine is a 4 cylinder 4 spd with carb. If you need some pictures let me know I will take some as soon as it dries out here. I have a cover on the RV during this monsoon season this year. Huxz
  3. Pager, Got one vent cover in and all sealed. Picked up all the tune up stuff, plugs wires cap and rotor and got the plug gap set. We have had too much rain to do much so I have been working on the inside cleaning and some contact glue to get the vinyl to stick back down in a few spots. Shocks are done as is the exhaust manifold and piece of exhuast pipe. Even got my new plates (MTNJAMR) sure I will get some laughs from that one. Should get the tuning done Tuesday and Wednesday before the next big rain. I think pontoons might help. Glad to hear you are running so well, I will see what mine will do soon. Huxz
  4. Pager, You give me hope and motavation to get the tune up finished this weekend. Funny I have a can of seafoam ready to use on the RV. I use it all the time on my Datsun Z cars. Usually just in the tank to clean injectors but I have also let some sit in the intake manifold for an hour or so then start the car and watch the smoke roll out. It does a great job of cleaning out the carbon build up on the old Z cars. I'm sure it will help on the Toyota's too. Huxz
  5. I bought the 46 dollar manifold, new bolts and felpro gasket set. The manifold fit the 84 fine but the pollution tube was different. Mine was on the top of the manifold and not the bottom as the others pictured. The parts place said it was the correct one. So we modified the pollution tube(cut it) crimped and welded it shut. Running quiet now and more power without the leak. The idle seems to go high and then low. I think it was doing that before I just did not notice over the exhaust noise. Runs fine once it warms up. I have to do a tune up yet so that may help with the low high idle. Any ideas on the idle running high then low would be appreciated. RV has 64,000 miles and is all original. Will be cleaning the carb, new K $ N filter ,new plugs, wires rotor and cap soon and reset the timing and idle. Huxz
  6. The shocks are all on and they did eliminate the side to side motion. I drove in a pretty good side wind and the Monroes made a big difference. Thanks to all for the tip on the Monroes. Huxz
  7. Hope you were in shelter when that hit. The size of the hail might have taken you out too. That is a large amout of damage. I just got the 14 inch vent covers from: BYERLY TRAILER & MFG, Eureka, Mo 636-938-2000. They were very helpful. I got the lifetime warrenty ones for my RV made from Lexan for 29 dollars each. They may be able to help with the other vents or point you to someone with a parts RV. Good luck I hope you find it all. Huxz
  8. I bought the Monroe shocks 34953 for the front and 34803 for the back. 42.50 apiece. I questioned if the fronts will work as mine itruckis a 1984 Toyota, the parts store says thats the right number. They also have a rebate program going on buy four and get a rebate for one. Thanks for the recommendation, I pick them up Friday. The rebate is good thru May 31, 2008 if anyone else is looking for the Monroe shocks. Huxz
  9. I have a 1985 Toyota Huntsman. It is an 1984 Toyota chassis with the replacement 1 ton 6 lug axle. On the front are the 5 lug wheels. Can you recommend the best shocks to put on the RV. We plan on a trip out west and will be climbing a mountain or two on the way. I noticed the RV has a fair amount of sway and figure that new shocks may help or eliminate most of the sway. I had the air bags at 50 lbs and very light load in the RV for the trip home. When we hit some crosswinds it wanted to lean more than I was use to with although it was managable. I also noticed when I was on the roof it had so lean with my weight on the roof. I guess I want the best stability over ride quailty but would like to know the options and opinions on shocks. Thanks Huxz
  10. Thanks, I think I will leave the chair for now. Need to finish the new exhaust manifold next. Just got the Huntsman sealed up top. I was surprised at the one piece aluminum roof. Ordered new Lexan vent covers too. I can see there is no limit on how much time and money one can spend on an RV. I'm all in. Huxz
  11. Thanks, I will have to check it out. My RV is a 1985 Toyota Huntsman. I was hoping it would be easy may have to figure another way to get the space needed. Huxz
  12. I was looking to see how the captain chair behind the passenger seat comes out. It will turn around 360 degrees. The water tank is below it and I can't get under the platform to see how it is attached. I want to remove it so we can have an extra sleeping ledge. I don't want to damage the water holding tank in the process. The other rear captain chair was not with the RV when I got it. Thanks Huxz
  13. There are only 4 configurations in the brochure opps. Huxz
  14. I think this is the front cover if I downloaded it right. I have more I will try to get in here. Hope it works. Shows the 6 different configuration and options and standard equipment that came on the Huntsman Model 1985. Huxz
