  1. I don't think the weight is off by tons but even a few hundred pounds is your wiggle room. Nobody drives around with an empty motorhome so you do need the ability to put things in it.

    Don't know how bad your springs are. Are they completely flat?

    Shocks sound good. I think the main thing you need when switching to single wheels is a sway bar. I have a factory one and dual wheels but when that sway bar came loose my camper was swaying all over the road. With the narrower track of single wheels it's a must for stability.

    You're on the right path for sure

  2. If you open up the hole larger the plastic that goes around your fuel filler will no longer be attached. Better to go with a flush mount slightly smaller. I saw some that were a little more than 8 inches. Attach to the inside frame on your where you see the screws and grind off the old frame. Might need some Bondo to smooth it out but I'm sure you could get it to look OK.

    This one is 11x10 so should fit pretty close. Absolutely do not damage the inside of your hatch. There is no replacement for that

  3. Here is a thread describing the wiring but in this case he fixed his old lights and upgraded them to LED. Wire I spoke of is on Bargman lights and have no idea what cutting it will do to a newer fixture. Probably doesn't matter.

    Still asking detailed questions about a hypothetical change is not really effective

  4. You do realize these lights are much smaller than your existing lights. You're going to make some sort of bracket to mount them to fill in the gap.

    Here is the wiring colors from your coach

    On the coach side, the wire colors are:

    WHITE = Ground

    GREEN = Tail Lights (running lights)

    YELLOW = Turn Signal

    RED = Brake Lite

    NOTE- Don't cut the white wire that runs to the three metal plates on the assembly. This wire is needed for the Backup light

    Possible flasher repair

    86 Dolphin; flasher is behind kick panel on driver's side, two screws to remove panel. Flasher is green and does not want to come out, leave the cover on and keep prying and pulling straight out. It will come eventually. Notice which side is up. Now remove cover; snip or unsolder teeny little resistor in middle, close to outside edge. I unsoldered, didn't have snips small enough to get it. Snap cover back on, shove it back in. No more quick flash.

    One more thing. Cheap is pretty always CHEAP. To do so much work and have them fail quickly doesn't sound like a good idea to me

  5. You need to get it weighed somewhere else. My Sunrader with the full float, heavier than a semi float, AC 100 lbs ,plus a generator, 120 lbs Came in at 5260 fully loaded with weeks worth of camping gear. No way yours weighs more than mine. Have you already switched to 15 inch tires. let me know and I will find the tires

    Linda S

    Oh I see you just put tires on it. Doesn't make sense to me if you were considering the change to single wheels but it's your rig

  6. This RV Salvage yard is about an hour from Portland.

    They might have something close but considering the cost of gas maybe I could find something for you. I need the exact dimensions of the opening and a close up picture of the hinge. Even if I find close you need to know that whatever I find will probably need some work done. Altering size of hole, changing hinge, etc. If it was me, I'd buy a plywood scrap, a piano hinge and a latch. Cut to fit and paint it white. Total cost around 20 bucks

  7. Cute, looks to be in good condition. We have seen quite a few of these over the years. They were made from 1984 to 1987 but build time at the motorhome facility made many motorhomes have a truck model one year older than the original sale date of the motorhome. Explains why yours is an 83. Some states go by sale original date but California goes by truck manufacture date.

    There is no way to know how many were manufactured. NADA doesn't even have the pop top listed, only the larger full sized model made by Ranger called a Rogue, so I'm guessing it was no more than a few hundred.

    Linda S

    Well it looks like the pop top was only made from 1984 to 1985.

    Considering we have seen quite a few of them I'll stick to my at least several hundred built estimate.

  8. Helps to pay attention to the date things were posted. These are from 5 years ago and Dan hasn't visited us since then. As for the model of your Winnebago, if it looks like this it's a "Toye". Printed right on the side of it. The Toye's were a lower priced model with supposedly cheaper upholstery and finishes. I really don't think they looked that much different than the other models. Welcome to the group
