My husband told me they are called clearance lights, after I posted the question..hehe. I guess we should replace instead of removing. Thank you for the info.

Hello, We recently bought an older Sunrader and we are fixing up. Most of the running lights do not work and will have to be replaced. My question: Do we have to have running lights? We are trying to decide wether to replace them or remove them. Thanks for your feedback!
