waiter Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I bought a Spare tire bike rack, to haul my bikes. My spare tire mounts to the back wall with one of the bolts going all the way through to the inside. The weight isn't a problem, I sat on the spare tire and bounce around. it will haul the weight OK. I had to do a slight modification to the bike rack, When the bike rack was mounted, the arms that hold the bikes were pointing down about 30 degrees. I took the arms off, heated them with a torch and bent them about 30 degrees. They now stick straight out. ALSO - The bike rack came with wing nuts to hold it together. I replaced these with self locking nuts, don't need this thing falling apart as I'm traveling down the road. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto Quote
Bob C Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 There is another problem with the wingnuts that hold the bike racks together. Most people lock their bikes to the rack and a theif can just unscrew the wingnuts and the rack falls apart. A better way to lock your bike to the MH is to loop the cable around the rear bumper. At least then they have to cut comething to steal the bikes, someone may notice the cutting. Quote

waiter Posted December 21, 2011 Author Posted December 21, 2011 My spare tire is bolted to the back wall of the toyhouse, doesn't sit on the bumper. I do have two lock cables, one goes around the ladder, the other goes around the bumper. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto Quote
