lauraj012 Posted July 10, 2017 Share Posted July 10, 2017 Help! I have a 1983 Toyota 22R engine with 4 speed transmission. The driveshaft literally fell out dragging the transmission with it. DanAatTheCape Posted July 13, 2017 Share Posted July 13, 2017 I do not see how a driveshaft could "drag out" the tranny unless it shattered the bell housing --- ie: the driveshaft was binding in the tranny, most likely after a U joint failure. That said, I bet the tranny is a standard toy trann from that year. also r u stating 4 speed MANUAL tran? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_W_transmission might be helpful determining which one you have.
