  1. Ok, Can't believe that I couldn't get the filler bolt or the drain bolt out of my 1990 1 Ton Axle. (24mm socket) I have been spraying with PB Penetrating Spray all day, hit bolt heads with a hammer, and tried cheater bars with no success. Here is a cheap electric impact gun that I got from Autozone that worked like a charm. 3 seconds on each bolt , done deal. I'm planning to flush and fill with Red Line 75W90 High Performance Synthetic two thumbs up on impact tool
  2. Thanks, I bookmarked that repair shop. I'm starting to learn a lot of these bolts and fasteners are pretty stubborn. I'm having a hard time getting the differential drain and fill bolts out right now. Got to get a 6 point socket, the 12 point is rounding corners. I think it is a 25mm..... Geeez
  3. Wow, you guys have scared me. I think I will wait until my 75K mile service and kill two birds with one stone. Like the penetrating oil for a few days prior to working on it idea. I would think a torch would be a good idea too. Snapping a stud would be a nightmare.
  4. Thanks, I didn't know about the yahoo site. Appreciate all the info. Do you think it would be possible to leave the crossover pipe connected and just slip old gasket out and new gasket in? There is some exhaust gas parts to deal with on passenger side too.
  5. Has anyone had a exhaust header leak? (3.0 V6) My passenger side exhaust header has a leak, I can't find any write ups on a DIY gasket repair. I know there are studs that can break or strip. The work area is so cramped, I just took it to a exhaust shop and he recommended that I not attempt to fix it due to the huge can of worms I could get into with snapped studs. If anyone has any experience with this let me know, I would like to get it fixed. I got the impression it must be very hard to get to even with the Toyo on a lift.
  6. No friend discount..... Haha I feel bad too, the guy wasn't too bright doing the install. He accidentally snapped the brass valve stem on the rear rim, he had a second guy drill / tap and install a pressure sensor fitting and extension for now charge. They were working for over 2 hours and only charged me $24.99. Even had my new stainless wheel simulators put in during install. BTW got the stainless wheel simulators of Amazon from RVWheel , they also have dot com website. They were $297 to the door. Look like a million bucks. Going to clean the old paint off the lug nuts right now. Does anyone know the correct replacement lug nuts for 1 Ton axles if these don't shine up?
  7. Ordered (7) of the Nankang 85R14C 102/100R 8 Ply Commercial Tires $497 to the door. Tire-easy website Walmart installed all (7) including disposal fees for $24.96 ( they couldn't balance due to the size of opening on 1 Ton rims so only charged me to mount (4). Jumped on freeway on way home and they seemed to handle great. Quality looks to be as good as any. Going cross country for Thankgiving so will update performance after the trip.
  8. FYI Did some research and found a cheap sticker removal wheel that you can put in a cordless drill. It worked great, some of the stripes were baked into the paint and cracked pretty bad. Looks like all I will have to do is wet sand and buff out the area where the stripes were located to complete the removal. Now to find some cheap new stripes . Half way done with Sunrader and the eraser wheel is still @ 80% life left, I bought (2) wheels but looks like (1) may do the entire motorhome.
  9. New member, First post. Just picked up my 1990 Sunrader last weekend, 56K miles 3.0 V6. I'm buffing it out this weekend, so far so good. Drove it from North California to Las Vegas and was able to get 15.25mpg @ 65-67 and 15.75mpg @ 60. Getting all cushions recovered New tires are ordered. Changed Lamps to LED New Retro Fridge ordered New Cook-Top ordered Retro Microwave ordered Installing 20" Samsung an arm bracket above Fridge Playstation going in for kiddies Honda EU3000 going on rear hitch rack Really love this set up. Getting ready for a cross country trip during Thanksgiving week. Gas prices are going in the right direction. Looking forward to reading and learning Thanks, Steve
