  1. Thanks Dave. Im going away on holiday 2moro for a week. I will have plenty of time to work out what to do as soon as I get back. Yes a new body is what I was thinking, but getting a small caravan and bolting it on. My mechanic says it will cost me around £500, if i get the caravan, will be custom made... an option. Had some offers on ebay: £350, a V70 Volvo and what I paid for it, £1000. So Im sure one way or the other the outcome will be fine. Chat to you all in a week Lisa. x
  2. I think you maybe right, I have interest already. Its on ebay... see how the next week pans out.
  3. Hi there Toyota Dolphin Enthusiasts! My Truck in is need of some MAJOR TLC... and I think I am either going to chop it up and make a new custom made motorhome, or sell it as it is. Any takers, offers, ideas, or suggestions welcome. Below is part of my advert on ebay UK to give you an idea of what needs to be done. My mechanic says the pick up truck part is fantastic. The whole body framework needs needs replacing, front and back, and the sides are soft. Im considering dismantling the caravan part and putting new body on it. Or turning it into an art car... Or a commercial unit of some sort. Im asking if anyone would want it in its current state? Before I take it apart bit by bit. All ideas, offers advice much appreciated. Ebay ad: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131276560535?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 You tube video: (excuse the language by the boys at the yard) I am a bit gutted, as i was sooooo excited about fixing it up and using it as it is. Just don't have the time money or expertise to do it myself. Back to the drawing board.... TTFN. Cake. x "Built in 1984, Imported from America in 1989. Weighs about 2.6 tonne. I had it transported to Devon on a 2.8 tonne low loader trailer and it was a bit snakey most of the way, if we went over 45 mph. I bought this motorhome 4 months ago, and I hoped the body work, inside was repairable, and it is but its 6-8 weeks worth of work to do what needs doing. The wooden frame of the vehicle has got so wet over the years that its shot at the rear of the vehicle and under the front bed area. It is fixable if you have the time, money and expertise. I am considering removing the whole of the caravan part of this motorhome and attaching a new caravan to the chassis. Or turning it into an art car or something new and interesting. I am very up for this idea, I have a mechanic ready to do that work, and I will be helping him to dismantle the whole thing if this is what I decide to do. The chassis is in excellent condition, the engine is also in fantastic condition, the gear box is great, the body work is also great, no rust apart from the bonnet that has already been rubbed down and ready to paint. The chassis is the same as a Toyota Hilux Pick Up. I have a manual for it on CD shipped from America. It needs for MOT: Tyres x 6 probably, as its been stood up for quite a while. (Some maybe fine) (tyres are transit size and easy to find)) Windscreen (mark 2 Toyota pick up will fit) Breaks (not sure yet, but some pipes and hoses for sure) Rubber mounts on suspension (maybe more as its been sat up) Exhaust is blowing slightly (repairable) Windscreen wipers Front bumper has a corner missing / sharp edge (easily sorted) Back lights need attention. So you can see it is a project if you include the work needed on the motorhome part. It is easily fixable for MOT, parts and part numbers can be found on toyotapartszone.com if the chassis number is put in. Inside the motorhome there is: A double bed above the cab A double bed in the rear / also a seating are for 4 people. Bathroom with shower toilet (cassette) sink Wardrobe Kitchen with double stainless steel sink The oven is missing, space for a large cooker A full size fridge Air conditioning unit on the roof of the van It has outside cupboards for gas bottles and storage and the cassette for the loo It has a spare tyre underneath TV aerials and wires for stereo and speakers A large water tank All the windows are intact and made from glass, not plastic Front window in the bed area is plastic I think. It has an inbuilt generator, I'm not sure if this is petrol or diesel, I presume petrol, and I don't know if it works, but a service and I'm sure it would be fine. The motorhome is: 20 foot long 6.7 foot wide 9 foot high" ............
