  1. Dang even the aftermarket shops around here cheapest labor rate is $90 , guys working out of their home garage want $50 +.. Went to three different shops to get a quote on a front brake job done on my 08 Chev Z71 4X4. cheapest quote was $275 to turn rotors and new pads (rotors just slip off, No taking front hub apart /bearings pack) Then when I took it in for an oil change at the Chevy dealership (I just don't trust jiffy-lube wally world etc places to change the oil) I asked my service writer to let me know how much using factory pads, not parts house cheap pads.. he quoted $215 plus tax. When I came in to pick the truck up total price for oil change and brake job $235.08 even got the tires rotated and rear brakes checked /adjusted and a nice wash on the truck as well... I think I got lucky and found the needle in the hay stack on this one ! It is nice doing the work yourself IF you can , but some of us either don't have all the right tools or health reasons like me back surgery and still on the mend.
  2. Funny you mention that , we were out for a drive one Sunday afternoon and it was getting late , so the Mrs tries shorter route ? on the Garmin , so we take the next left it turns into a dirt road with in 1/4 mile thinking ok it will take us over the hill instead around it. approx 5 miles later we are all but scraping the sides of the Toy FJ were in along the road and at one time thought we heard Banjo's playing !! . Next thing ya know we pop back out on the road we turned off not more than 50 yards from we started .. Yeah we now call our Garmin the yyyy ... lol
  3. Too Funny lol I haven't been on for awhile, just lurking all the sites ... Must be the Winter Time Blues !! Can't get out and do anything ?
  4. Yes what 05toyota said most often it is like that... I know the GS one we bought the chassis is an 00 but the coach is an 01 and it is (DMV) registered as an 01.
  5. Hope this was the right place to post this ? Ok quick lesson I learned the hard way when I got my license and my first vehicle... I didn't know that you should "only" use car wash soap to wash your car. There I was every Sat. morning washing my mini Toy truck , then dry it all off to spend another 3 hours hand waxing it from bumper to bumper ,man you could toss the towell on the hood and it would just slide right off it was so smooth and glossy. Armerall the tires, polish everything up nice for Sat night cruise, Yeah I'm looking fine !! lol So next Sat morning rolls around I wash the truck , dang its not smooth and glossy what the heck cheap wax ??? Nope ! next door old fart neighbor, apparently I was his entertainment on Saturday mornings, he would sit out on his porch drinking coffee and watch me do the whole thing. Finally after a month or so of watching me wash , dry , then scratch my head and do the wax job all over again he wondered on over to my driveway and asked "did I know why my wax job wasn't lasting longer than a week" I said no !, I was using expensive wax (to a 16 year old $10 for a bottle of wax is very very expensive lol ) He had saw what soap I was putting into the bucket , Dawn Dish soap. (Now this was way before any commercials about oil spills now so don't go there lol ) He gave a life lesson on (well to a 16 yr old) the basics of what to use to wash your car and why . He said there was a reason why there is DISH soap and CAR wash soap... I had no idea I was basically stripping the wax off every time I washed my truck when I used the (Dawn) Dish soap . After that I only bought CAR wash soap, and ya know what the wax lasted ALOT longer lol Turned out to be great neighbor I learned alot from that old fart , I miss talking with him to this day... SO now to my question ; What do you use to wash your MH especially now that most of the sides are gel-coat fiberglass... Do you use the marine/rv wash soap thats on the market ? or do you just use the standard CAR wash soaps ? I've used Meguiers car wash for many years on my cars and trucks, but now with the motorhome having the fiberglass sides bigger than the front end ! Should I be looking at the marine/rv wash or just use car wash soap ?? Sorry for the lengthy post , but thought a few would get a chuckle and kinda explain why I'm asking...
  6. True they are out there , but as usual I'm always a day late or a dollar short ...
  7. I learned a new word today ; Smarmy And here I thought I was going to just learn something about batteries ...
  8. Thanks , I hope we do ! Now that we got the MH now its the take a few over nighters then when June hits we want to drive back to the East coast . I've never been further East than Sturgis SD which ain't far lol. Just always stayed over here on the West from Washington North to Arizona South, and a few other states Nevada , Colorado, Utah, New Mexico. Went to Sturgis in 05 , but that was a straight 24hrs drive there the 22hrs drive back, didn't have time to stop and see the scenery , this time around will have the time to stop and enjoy it
  9. Well we went and looked at three other toy MH's and maybe I'm just too picky or ? But these were not even close to what the sellers were saying they were. So we went and looked at some Class B van types and other Mh's private and well they weren't much better . SOO went to probably at least 8 MH's dealers and looked and drove and looked and drove lol wound up buying an 01 Gulfstream chevy power 22ft Class C with 33K miles , cleanest one we had seen 36 hrs on the generac 4800 ... Can't wait now long Thanksgiving weekend coming up !!
  10. Yeah it has the ford 460 , I now what ya mean by more maintenance ,thats a major thing holding me back on it. The pictures look like its clean , but so has alot of the others lol. Will definitely have to look it over good !
  11. In his email ,( blanket email mine and at least 10 others) , he commented $10k is lowest he'll go , he'll keep it if he doesn't get that price... At that price I've been looking at bigger MH's Found a 94 Fleetwood up North Ca. Redding with 49k miles on it , we are going to go look at it Sat. morning they are asking $11,300. for it, but just talking on the phone earlier with the guy he sounded the price was somewhat flexible ... The guy said he would even rent it to us for a weekend and try it out , if we didn't like it it would only be $125 a day to rent it , if we liked it and bought it we would just pay our agreed upon selling price... Thought that was pretty decent...
  12. Here are the picks from the Sunrader CL http://s305.beta.pho...lbum_view_click It does look nice , ... Funny tho , he has emailed this to me twice now...
  13. Yes in his email he sent an attachment of photos, but they were like all other photos where they show the big picture, not close ups of certain areas. You know the typical across the street full photo of the rig, look at the rear bath photo that was taken up front by the overhead bed to just the reverse photo of the over head bed taken from the rear bath etc lol I have seen so many adds with the photos attached and 1. If I ask for detail photos I get the silent pause on the phone, then some excuse about not being able to. 2. When I bring up the typical concerns, tires, leaks, timing chain/belt their attitude changes real fast. 3. When I do go look at them, they are NOT what they described ...
  14. I emailed the guy and finally got an email back from him He sent out a blanket email because there was a list of other emails along with mine .. Says he's asking $11K for it ...
  15. Got this email today It's been sold, thanks for the interest .....
