Here’s what I just finished:

Front wheel bearings are the same as a standard 2wd pickup.
Setting the preload is critical though.
Factory manual suggests using a 4.5 pound weight on a 12” arm to give a steady torque while securing the keepers on the nuts.
- Initial Torque: Tighten the front wheel bearing nut to 18-22 ft-lbs while rotating the hub to seat the bearings.
- Back Off: Loosen the nut completely.
- Final Torque: Re-tighten the nut to a much lower, delicate torque (roughly 3-5 ft-lbs or just enough to remove play, often described as "finger tight" while aligning the locking nut).
