XtremeBigAir.com
I have a 87 Sunrader V6. I just have an idea and am quite sure someone else already done it. I was wondering if anyone has done something like putting the Sunrader on the newer Tacoma 4x4 chassis??? Here are pictures of my 87 sunrader. Thanks Kinsley
Pat
Sounds nice, but I sure would not want to be the one to start cutting on the roof of a new Tacoma.
Bahnstormer
I'm interested in such a conversion too. With the limited number of 4x4s out there, this might be the way to go. Not necessarily a 2007 Taco, but maybe something a little less pricey from around the turn of the century with a V6 and automatic, so the wife can drive it too. Cutting sheet metal doesn't scare me, but I would want to know how the coach would mount up to the newer chassis. Anyone out there with experience or advice? Thanks for the help. bufbooth
Can the Tacoma handle the weight? I think they are only rated for a half ton? Dennis...
Bahnstormer
Dennis, How about going the other way? Jack it up and put in a transfer case and solid front axle. Thanks, Bruce
bufbooth
I was more worried about the rear axle, I think they are only rated for a half ton, do not want a repeat of the 5 bolt rear wheels from the pre-1988 Toyotas. Are the Tacoma's available in a one ton model and/or a Duelly rear axle? Dennis...
