Mid-West Toy-In October 13th and 14th - Galesburg Illinois

Hello All,

A Mid-West Toy-In is being held on October 13th/14th

near Galesburg Illinois at the Galesburg East

Campground (www.allcampgrounds.com/galesburgeast).

It looks like a nice place, lots of trees, full hook

ups, pull thru sites, a Good Sam Park, fishing pond,

firewood, propane station, pets are welcome, and about

8 miles East of Galesburg.

Our group name is "Toyota". We might end up getting a

10% discount, it all depends on our final numbers, so

expect to pay the full rate ($24) and if we get

the 10% discount it will be a bonus. There are

additional fees for more than two adults, ($2 for each

additonal adult and $1 for each additional child).

For reservations call 309-289-2267 and tell them you

are part of the "Toyota" group.

We need to make reservations by October 1st to ensure

that we can get sites next to each other.

If you plan on attending and make a reservation, could

you reply to me at bufbooth@yahoo.com and provide any

suggestions, and if there will be any

children coming along with the ages, I will try to

plan a few activities for them, movie night, punkin

craving contest, fishing tourament, ect.

Some of the activities that I would like to plan is

a pot luck dinner for Saturday night, a camp fire

sit-in, and a Toyota caravan on the Knox County Scenic

Drive (see below).

There are a number of things to do in Galesburg. Due

to the Fall season there is a Knox County Scenic Drive

on this weekend that really looks interesting.

October 13th/14th

Knox County Scenic Drive - 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 P.M.

31st annual Knox County Scenic Drive, come share the

beauty of autumn in rural Illinois. Enjoy stunning

fall colors on your self-conducted driving tour to

various locations offering historic sites, displays,

demonstrations, country cooking, arts & crafts, fall

produce, live entertainment, children’s activities.

Knox-Galesburg Symphony Concert - 7:30 P.M.

To open the 2007- 2008 concert season the

Knox-Galesburg Symphony presents Tchailivsky's

Symphony No 5 & Holst's "Cappriccio" for Orchestra.

The season opener features 18 year old Molly Yeh as

soloist performing Hovhaness " Fantasy on Japanese

Woodprints" on the marimba.

My hope was for a grand tour this autumn which would've brought me close at the right time, but for once life has intervened with happy occasions: two weddings sandwiching a college homecoming. Can't get to Galesburg even for a drop-in visit.

So I'll grab a rental car in Chicago and cut a swath (and back) through central Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, northwest Pa., and western N.Y. Oct. 2nd - 12th. I'd like to contact you on that run, and any others interested in tidings from the West Coast. I'll pm Pat and Dennis (moosepucky) and yourself.

You see, I was all set for Turbo Greg's redwoods event the weekend of Oct. 6th. out here. Judging from the Big Sur rally last spring, it should be melll-ow.

At any rate, in spite of a leave of absence from work since March, I couldn't make the the recent SoCal or eastern Sierra gatherings, and I need another fix. Anybody out there in the fertile crescent above?

My poor Itasca sits pretty, awaiting the call to a ball; the 4X 'Rader furrows her plexiglass brow, brooding over mismatched front and rear shoes.
