RICHARD SCHADE
hi folks just added a new tack and at 55mph in OD the tack reads 2200 rpm is that about normal, what gear might I have in the diff. the tack is handy when I approach a hill,I can kick it out of OD to put less strain on the trans, the trans shifts around 1800 or 2000 at normal driving. Derek up North
Odds are, you've got a 4.10:1 ratio. On the plate probably on your doorpost (or under the hood on the firewall) you can read the 'Axle Code'. That'll tell you what it left the factory with. Expect to see either 'G294' (4.10:1), 'G284' (4.30:1) or 'G074' (3.90:1). EDIT: What the heck, since I came across them, I might as well post them for future reference! A43D: Gear ratios: 1st - 2.452; 2nd - 1.452; 3rd - 1.000; 4th - 0.688; Reverse: 2.212 A340: Gear ratios: 1st - 2.80; 2nd - 1.53; 3rd - 1.00; 4th - 0.71; Reverse - 2.39 http://en.wikipedia....ansmission#A3xx The W55 appears to be a base reference point for gear ratios that Toyota used to fine tune later models of the W-series. Ratios: First Gear: 3.566:1 Second Gear: 2.056:1 Third Gear: 1.384:1 Fourth Gear: 1.00:1 Fifth Gear: 0.85:1 Reverse: -4.091:1 Some axle ratio/diff info:- http://www.toysport....tifications.htm http://www.4crawler...._TechInfo.shtml
