Just picked up a 1990 Odyssey 43k

Just picked up a 1990 with 43k. I am a newbie, but it runs great and in good condition. It does not have a roof top AC unit and no generator.

I was hoping to get both. Can I fit a portable generator in the outside storage compartment? Anyone ever put a Honda 2000 in there or any of those portable type gernators? What is the best AC unit for the top. Best price etc. Any tips on the install?

The roof is in decent shape. The guy who owned it before me had coated the top with a white rubber type paint. Looks like it could use another coat. What products do you recommend for a roll/paint on rubber type application. Anyone use a pool paint resistant to clorine? Rubber Roofing paint?

Thanks Mike

You should be able to run this with a 2000w Honda, Yamaha or Kipor portable. The next size up (13,500Btuh) will not. However, the portables are NOT designed to operate in a closed compartment.

I've been looking at the Honda too, they are much quieter. Was this a one owner Motorhome! Congrats on the purchase, it hasn't even been broken in yet engine wise.

Hello Mike,

I also have a 1990 Odyssey, but I have an all aluminum roof instead of a rubber roof.

Other 1990 Odysseys that I have seen (two others) also had the aluminum roof, are you

sure you have a rubber roof?

Here are some Odyssey documents that I think you will like:

Also, I have the 1990 Toyota truck service manual on CD, if you like a copy send me

your mailing address (via private message) and I will mail you a copy. It even

covers the duelly rear axle. Nice to keep of copy in the RV in case you end up needing

to provide it to a garage to use.

Where abouts are you located?
