ken225
Folks: I'm looking at a 1978 Omega Chinook and I've read the very helpful article on this site concerning early axle failures because too much weight was added to the rear end of Toyota motorhomes. In a nutshell. Can someone advise me, should I stay away from an Omega Chinook from 1978? This model and year just does not seem to have that much weight on the rear end as some of the later models from the early '80's appear to have. Also, this particular Chinook has even had the interior removed by the owner as part of a complete remodel which they just apparently decided to stop working on. Appreciate any advice. nhcamper
A stock Chinook with the single axel is perfectly safe to drive. The rule of thumb is not to overload the camper.
