Hi to all I just bought this 87 Sunrader and it is overall in pretty nice shape. I have some questions as I am having some problems. I have never owned a camper and I dont know much about them. This camper was to nice to not grabb up and the price was fair. However the guy I got it from got it when his dad passed away so he new nothing about it also. Here are my questions.

1. It needs tires, what type should I get.

2. Where or how do you fill the fresh water there is a hose fitting but when you put a hose on it the water goes right to the sink and does not fill the tank. There is what appears to be a vent that you pull out the guy said to fill it there but does not seem right.

3.It has a Kohler generator, did not run, I rebuilt carb and now it runs but I am not getting any power to anything from it. Is there a switch or somthing to turn on generator power. Another post I read said to plug shore power cord to gen. but I dont see where.

4. Does the cab ac on and 87 toyota have freon or the other newer stuff in it. I forget whet its called.

5. This has a little 22 re 4 cyl and it runs good. When I get on the highway and get her up to 60 65 the check engine light comes on when I slow to 50 55 it goes off. Any ideas on this, does this have a computer that stores codes.

6. The cruise control does not work are these hard to fix, expensive. I would like to have it but I would have to take it to toyota, should I bother.

7. If I have to bring this in to have the gen looked at what type of place does that. I have never owned a generator but I really want it as I am planing a long trip and will be camping where there is no plug in.

Sorry for all the questions but I am in a new area.

Thanks

Howdy MMtoy

1- Check out various threads here on tires.

2 -Yup! Thats where you fill the water tank

3-Small door at the bottom of your rig on the passengers' side in back of rear wheel. That's where your plug is for the ac cord. There is a receptacle there to plug in generator.

4- New stuff is R134. Your's has Freon.

5- I replaced the computer on mine with a modern aftermarket fuel delivery system, so I have no idea on this.

6- Cruise is nice on a long trip. You will have to decide how much a cramped leg is worth ( just kiddin'). I'd try it without the cruise working. I installed a new cruise system on mine, ran about $300 as I recall. I installed it. Still doesn't work. I will check it out someday.

7- G to an RV sales and service.

Hope this helps.

Thanks John

I found the land line or shore power cord it was in a small compartment in the middle of the camper on the drivers side. I looked in there and all over and I cant find a place to plug it in. In this compartment there is a box and it says power supply on it it has a door but there are all wires inside. The wire from the generator goes to that box a wire comes out of the box to the main circut breaker and fuse box and the other wire coming out of the box is the shore power cord. I can not fine any place to plug in do you think the generator is hard wired somehow and there is no plug. I still dont get power when the gen runs. I found a switch or breaker on the gen I tried it in both positions and nothing.

thanks

I found out that the gen was running to slow to produce power. I increased rpms and power came on. Also the box is a auto switch when gen produces it takes over and switches out landline and dc. thanks for the help.
