You may want to rethink the placement of your tank. Not a good idea to be hugging it while driving. Maybe use that location for something more benign like your water storage tank and put the propane as far away from where you are sitting when driving as possible. http://www.playbegins.com/play-5278.html http://www.injuryboard.com/topic/propane-g...ill-injury.aspx Driving around on an unsafe axle with your arm around 20 lbs of compressed liquid gas is.... well..... I don't want to say what I think of that idea.....
Yostfmx
It takes so much to make one explode. I think its fine. If I you crash a motorhome fast enough to make it explode I think the crash would do you in first, plus if you do have the propane in the back of the motorhome and it explodes its still going to kill you. If I do go on a trip I'll take it out while I drive and put out of the front inpact zone. Haha I have my water tank in the front too! 6 gal. turtle
Have you give any thought to using a horizontal RV type tank mounted under the coach body on the frame? Something like this (propane tank is that white "thang" on the right)... http://www.toymike.com/diesel/pics/dieselUnder.jpg Being in So Cal you should have access to just about everything imaginable. You've got the room to hang one http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v322/Yos...nt=DCP_2820.jpg
ChairmanMeow7
Are you considering upgrading to a 6 lug rear end ? I just saw one go on E-Bay for a $168 (in PA). Of course it would probably have cost a few $$$ to ship to CA . I wanted to get on here and post a link to it while the auction was still active , but I was having trouble with my IP and I couldn't log onto the net. I am on E-Bay quite a bit , and if I see another one come up , I WILL post a link to it on here , so some of you can bid on it if you want. Yostfmx
I was going to hang it in the same spot, but then changed my mind, that tank is heavy! so I went with the front seat. I'm thinking of not have spare tire on at all to save weight, I'll see when I get it on a scale. Your motorhome looks very nice by the way! Thanks man, yea would be way to much to ship. I'm looking on craigslist for a 6 lug.
turtle
Here is a small horizontal LP tank on eBay. It is sort of out on your coast http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...em=300234221132 The listing says 27" long but I bet it is a 23" 5.5 gallon tank. This is a dirt cheap price on one of these little guys (hard to find the little ones)
