  1. I have a 94 Toyota, 6 cylinder, and I got 16mpg. on a 500 mile freeway trip from Orange Co. to Sonoma Co.,Cal. in the summer, with near to 100 degree weather, all day. I ran my dash ac, full force, most of the trip. That includes coming over the Grape Vine. I kept it at a steady 55mph, with about 300lbs of humans, and no cargo, just empty. It might have had water in the tanks, I don't know. I just bought it without checking those things. My first Toyota motorhome, was a Sunrader, 18ft. 4 cylinder. I never checked the mpg, but I don't think it got much better, and it had a lot less power, and when I would come to a hill, I would get the speed up as far back as possible, so I wouldn't wind up going 45 by the top of the hill. 2. When I took mine out, I unbolted the back and the seat from the frame and took it out in three sections. I didn't have any help, so I don't think I could have gotten it out the door in one piece, by myself. In pieces, it was pretty easy. Has anyone used the frames and re stuffed them, for something more comfortable? I was thinking about doing that, but I would really like to be able to access the underneath, so I scratched that idea. The water pump is going, and when I took the sofa out, I found a big crack in the water hose to the tank, and my floor was all wet. Not too much damage, but glad I found it. Marshie
  3. Your remodel looks great. I need to do what you have done with your sofa. I would really like to see how you put support under the seat. I have been trying to figure out a good way of doing this. Thanks, Marshie
  4. When I start actually traveling, I plan on joining. I was looking at some of their member's locations, and it looks good. Marshie
  5. I am still working on getting rid of all my stuff. I have sold everything of value, but I do have a storage for books, and fabrics and "things" that I know I could live without. Plan to be at bare minimum and trade down to the very smallest storage unit by October. My big goal is to have everything I own in the motorhome, no storage. Only procrastination has kept me from this. Since my father was a minimalist and my mother couldn't throw anything out, I have the war of the genes going on most of the time. Marshie
  6. Well, I am single and 59, and have been doing this for 8 years. I have had a permanent parking spot on private property, but tomorrow I will be moving off the property and parking here and there until I go north for a few months in October. I love living in the Toyota and plan to do it until I physically can't. I wish I had started when I was 20, but I got sidetracked. In my book, it's never too late. I would really like to meet other Toyota motorhomer's. Is that a word? So, if any of you get up to Sonoma county, let me know with a post. Would love to meet and share stories. I will have better stories next year, when I get back from my first real road trip. Marshie
