  1. Not sure what you mean re something "white". Do you mean in the area just forward of the back bumper? Derek, what do you think about the amount of mileage? Certainly not "low miles". What questions, maintenance wise, should I ask re the engine? Timing chain? Or would that be a timing belt? Can you offer a ballpark $ on cost of tire replacement? Any idea of the size required?
  2. Here's a little rig that might be worth my looking into. (Craigslist rvs by owner Humboldt, CA.) What I like about it: 22re, *manual transmission*, Rear Dinette/Lounge, dry bath. Asking $ is right/negotiable. I can manage the cab over rebuild. (Who knows what more water damage there might be..?) Please have a look at the listing. Before I contact seller would like your observations/questions to ask. Can you tell from pics if it's got a full floating axle? Is the exterior skin of this Shasta aluminum? If yes, would roof be the same material? Also, chime in with any Shasta generalizations/weaknesses/pros & cons. ETC. Thanks all! Scarlett
  3. Never mind folks, The Nova Star seems to be gone from craigslist. And no wonder! Later, Scarlett
  4. OK, checked the listing. Looks great. But not sure I'm ready yet to give up my #1 desire: RL floorplan. Next issue, I decided to contact seller ASAP anyway, only to discover a sign up glitch with email service I just days ago signed up for& paid for. I'm not having an luck yet resolving the issue, thus cannot contact seller. I am a luddite at heart. What I want is to talk to seller by phone. I am new to computers & about to pull my hair out! Any chance one of you could email seller & get a contact phone # for me? If not appropriate, forgive my asking...My trial period email address expired today, which is why I paid for a subscription several days ago, but now there's a glitch. So have, for now, no contact email address... It's always *something*!
  5. Thank you Linda & Joe! I've got water on for morning coffee & must now walk my hound while there's a break in the rain. Once I'm fueled for the day, I'll pull up the listing & have a look. Charlotte
  6. Derek, I have absolutely no idea what you look like. What look are you trying for?
  7. Congratulations! You've no doubt planned for a *thorough* inspection by a good shop, have good tires & long distance tow coverage! It's likely I may end up, like you, driving an old Toy some distance on its' maiden voyage home, with my hound along. At the very least I expect white knuckles. My daily driver is an '82 Toy pickup with the 22R. It's been bulletproof for me since I bought it new. Please let us know the details/outcome of your journey. I may be facing the same scenario & trying to figure out ahead of time just how to handle it. Good luck!
  8. Thanks for the tough love, WME! Not exactly a gentle reminder, but your timing is spot on. Scarlett
  9. Just won the lottery? Listed now on craigslist San Diego is a pristine/near mint condition 1986 18 foot Sunrader custom 4X4. Lots of sharp pics are bound to make you drool. Have a look. It will knock your socks off.
  10. That's just about the damn cutest Toy I have ever seen! Congratulations. Keep the pics coming...
  11. Wow! How did you come to learn *so much* about so many things Toy?
  12. Hi Linda, Now I'm thoroughly confused. I know sometimes sellers are mistaken about the year of a rig, but are you and Derek now identifying this one as a Dolphin? Were the two coach brands interconnected at any point? BTW, have you had a look at this particular coach?
  13. You're no doubt right. But this new paint job IS a trend. Some RVs are going with a Raptor (bed liner) paint job, which is tough as nails & resists scratches & hail damage. As to this mystery "Seabreeze" who knows? Are you suggesting that, between the unusual layout & the exterior paint job there is **deep digging** to be done by an interested buyer? Don't be subtle. Lay it out. What's your best intuitive stab?
  14. Derek, just noticed seller sez price is firm for 1st two weeks of listing. Hard to imagine it won't go soon, but I will keep my eye on that one! The layout is unusual, for sure, but that's a layout that might be comfortable.,, I still ***want your opinion*** of the new trend in all-over "discreet" paint jobs. (I'd go for one. Great in the US Southwest desert, tho I'd prolly paint mine a soft sage green.)
  15. I see that. Doesn't that rear area normally have a padded/upholstered panel across there, with a short bench spanning the distance between the dinette banquettes? Does that raise a red flag? (You are helping me learn to "sleuth" the digi pics, thanks!) Half the battle is figuring out which listings to eventually follow up on. Here's a theory of one type of seller: if they have gone to great labor/expense to create a truly fine coach interior I figure it's unlikely a lemon. Your thoughts?
  16. Nissan! Never thought about that... Are they anywhere *near* as reliable an engine/chassis? Note:l seller sez gas will have to be dumped/replaced. Prolly means it's been sitting. However this works out, I am likely to buy & drive off, after careful inspection, etc. If I can, I'd rather hunt N of here than get into that bloody awful LA area...
  17. Seller said they installed new jack knife sofa, so they may done a thorough rearrange. Their upholstery & lined curtains are top drawer! What do you think of the all-over paint job idea? More & more RVers are going to this in order to blend in & not look flashy. IF it remains possible/sane to travel Mexico, this type of paint job would be good there. Doesn't shout "RV".
  18. No matter what, I draw big line in the sand: no farther than Portland. Nice little rig tho & good asking $. My wireless mouse died, can't manage to copy/paste links, but have a gander at the '91 Seabreeze on craigslist: check the Portland list, I think. A thing of beauty is a joy forever... My desired purchase, however, would NOT involve paying for sellers' interior makeover. I am great at that myself, but won't do rot damage restoration. I'm doing that now on my redwood cottage! But this Breeze is done with style and good taste, always nice to see. Have you got pics of your rig uploaded on this site? If so, where?
  19. Thanks, that's just the very sort of info I am looking for! I seem to remember hearing that this coach has the highest head room...
  20. Morning Derek (at least it's still AM here), I am looking at everything from San Diego to Portland & this is, so far, the first Seabreeze I've had a digital look at. Boy, the one I found this morning is a beauty, with good owners to boot. If I had the dough I go for it, tho it's 6 cyl/auto with rear bath.
  21. Worst built. In what way? I am looking hard now, & need to get a sense of the different coach manufacturers. I agree, however, that previous owners' care/lack thereof in the end make or break it...
  22. First Iisting I've seen for one so far is a '91. Nice looking in & out, if too pricey for me. Has a professional all-over desert sand paint job, a growing trend I am seeing. General info re framing, insulation, roof construction, etc would be helpful, if known. What's the general consensus/reputation of this coach? Are there annoying/inconvenient or troublesome issues peculiar only to Seabreeze? Your thoughts, please. Scarlett
  23. Thanks Linda--- & to all who have contributed info. I hope I'm not sorely tempted by any salvage titled Toy. I'm too new to the game. Scarlett
