  1. Hi All, Great site you got here. A wealth of information. I wonder if there are any Little Chief owners here? Hope to get some insights, experiences both good and bad. The Little Chief was a made-in-Canada version of our beloved Toyota camper conversion. I've posted pictures of my Little Chief in the Gallery. Have a look.

Here's my renovated cab-over. Paneling is maple veneer 1/8" plywood. Overhead storage bins were removed to provide headroom for two adults. See later pic for the original configuration. Was a bit too claustrophobic sleeping with a cupboard inches above one's nose!

The front corners of the cab-over were leaking and rotten. The first order of business was to remove the plywood and insulation and have it all redone.

Interior/Exterior photos taken within days of purchase. This is a 1978 Little Chief built by Trav-L-Mate Industries of Canada. Chassis is a 1978 Toyota Hilux or Pickup as it is called in America with the 20R engine. Transmission is a 4 speed manual. Learning as I go with this unit, this being my first RV. Thanks to all those involved in this site. A wealth of information here.

The space sacrificed on a camper this short is between the bunk and the kitchen in back. There's only a pair of single bench style seats sqeezed in there. We use a folding card table to provide an indoor dinette.

Original configuration of cab-over bed. Note the cupboard that runs the width of the front end. This was removed as it provided a negligable amount of storage and made one sleeper - my wife - quite claustrophobic. Also of note: the previous owner had boarded up the front window. This too has been removed.

This particular unit measures less than 17 feet in total length. I can get the tape measure out and provide specific measurements upon request.
