  1. You and others might find this presentation helpful in locating leaks. This Simple Leak Test Will Find Small Undetected Water Leaks.htm
  2. Does anyone know what is behind the wood ceiling inside of a 1989 Dolphin? I was wondering if there is insulation, etc. between the wood and the metal roof. Thanks for any information.
  3. Thanks for posting this information. I bought one today to cover my 1989 Dolphin. The description does not state if the cover is waterproof. Does anybody know? Thanks
  4. A few months ago, I sought advice on what type of paint to use while contemplating painting my 1989 Dolphin. At the time, I thought that aging and neglect had caused the exterior fiberglass to go from white to an off white. A couple of responders on this site told me that was not the case and that the color was original. One responder suggested that I use ZEP floor wax to bring the sheen back rather than paint. I have just completed applying 3 coats of ZEP. I cannot believe how great and shiny it looks! I am really proud of the appearance and now it's off to Montana for a month.
  5. I have purchased the ZEP wax and I am going to give it a go. Hope it turns out as well as others say it will.
  6. Thanks to all who responded to my question. Finding gas filler hose is expensive (up to $2 per inch) but I finally bit the bullet and ordered on line. It took a month to arrive and was the wrong size! While in Tulsa for a day visit, I stopped at a company that supplies hose to the oil field industry to see if they had the correct size for my need. Sure enough, they did. I needed 15" which a young man GAVE to me free of charge. Folks in Oklahoma are great!
  7. Sir, I really appreciate your assistance. I just ordered the air bags for a great price PLUS a $50 rebate. Now, if I can just address this fuel hose issue.......
  8. I have a 1989 Dolphin with cracked and leaky gas tank hose and over flow hose. I need to replace both but have been unable to locate replacements. Can anyone tell me the diameter of these hoses as I believe I can order convoluted hose and fix both. Lastly, can anyone help me in finding air bags for my rig? Thanks!!!
  9. First of all, thanks to all who have responded to this Newbies questions and I have learned so much from reading all the posts. My Toyota is a 1989 Dolphin and the fiberglass covering is what I would describe as a dingy yellowish color. Was the original color white, off white, or? This spring I plan on painting it myself and would welcome responses to what type of paint I should use.
  10. We left NW Arkansas in our 1989 Dolphin for Phoenix in Mid June. I must say that the drive through W. Texas and New Mexico was not what I had envisioned for our first RV experience. I have never seen such head wind! We stayed in Phoenix for 10 days with family and then set out for Montana to fish the Madison River. I must say that the week there was outstanding and thoroughly enjoyable. I hated to leave. On our way home, we visited the battlefield at the Little Big Horn and Mt. Rushmore. The battlefield was fantastic! The drive through Wyoming, South Dakota and Nebraska was easier and the scenery beautiful. Back to Montana next year for a month long stay!
  11. I had roof damage on my 1989 Dolphin resulting in leaks into the unit. As a newbie, I repaired it with silicone caulk. The problem with silicone is after exposure to sunlight, it begins to deteriorate. After internet research, I decided to give Eternabond a try. The application was completed this weekend after removal of all the silicone. Beware! Eternabond will not stick to silicone. I tried it on a small leak spot as a test. Only time will tell if my leak problem is solved. I can say this. This stuff is easy to apply and sticky (with emphasis) and once you put it down, it's down! I discussed this product with other Rv'ers this past summer and their experience with Eternabond was very positive.
  12. I have a 1989 Toyota Dolphin (duals on rear) and noticed during my last outing that the tires looked a little low. Can anyone tell me the correct tire pressure for both front and rear?
