  1. I've bought a ice cream from something like this lol
  2. Yes we haul everything with us .. No problems ... Everyone loves the Toyota on the road .. Everyone wants to come look inside lol . The toy is just Awesome , we have been it lots of mountains the last to days & it never stops pulling . Lots questioned my scooter carrier , but it's doing the talking now , no issues in any way , if you have ever driven in Mexico & I'm sure 99% of you have not you will not know minor roads can be rough/scenic lol . Lots more to come on our adventure ... We are in Sayulita right now .
  3. Happy new year to all in the Toyota Motorhome community .. Thanks for a great group , that's been very helpful !!! Our 1989/90 Dolphin has been flawless on our drive , 3500 miles so far from Canada down the US & now on the pacific coast of Mexico . I've had lots of Motorhomes over the years but this rig wins hands down . Traveling with the old lady & two kids (6) & (9) we have every thing we need ....... Bought from a online auction, site unseen this fall for $2,300 makes it the best deal ever . I can tell ya Toyotas are Tough !!! .
  4. I have taken pics of the diograms ... There is about 18 pages / diograms If any on needs any just let me know .. Photos are a little large & my internet connection is not strong enough to upload . All are of 89/90 dolphin
  5. That's the plan today Derek ... Just got to remove the darn dash again to get to it all lol ... Anyways I'll put power to the cigarette lighter at the same time . Thanks all If anyone has the need I have wiring diagrams for the 89-90 dolphin layouts , can easily take a photo & post if needed . Bye the way hot & sunny in Mexico , the toy has 3,211 miles so far !
  6. Thanks WME ... So I'm assuming though the cab electrics are fed from the truck battery ? . I'll have it charged up by morning , a nice campsite neighbor loaned me his charger ! .... Then I'll start looking it will be light then . I found all the wiring diagrams in the camper folder that came with ... Cool to look at for sure . Just got to have my music ! Maybe a hot wire to the radio when I'm parked up ? Thank you WME .
  7. Update ... My coach battery is not dead it's my motor battery that's dead .. It's the first time we have parked up for a number of days & we have had our stereo/cd playing music & also 2-3 items charging from the dash cigaret plug in ..... Please slap me if I'm stupid , but when we are parked & on shore power hookup does my motor battery also get charged ? .. Or is the under hood relay for the propose of Not allowing the motor battery to be drained , but allowing the alternator to charged the house battery when driving ? . Gee I hope that makes sence .... Our other caper did not ever get a flat battery , but I do remember more than one relay . Thanks again
  8. Maineah ... I'm currently on the road on a trip through Mexico ... Today I find my coach batteries dead , we have been parked for a few days plugged in to shore power ... I'm currently checking out the relay & it does look like it's not working as it should .. The 2 35amp breakers are located where ?? ... Are we talking about the ones in the main box under my couch ? Thanks if you get chance to get back ... One last thing ... Will any simple relay work ?
  9. Was pretty easy ... To upgrade ... Remove 10mm bolt from drivers side dash lower area & 4 Philips/star screws in the panel , pull the panel down taking care of the speaker wires , remove speaker wires & set the panel on floor .. Go to passenger side remove 10mm bolt from lower panel area , open glove box & remove screws & screws from remaining panel , pull panel away , remove speaker wires & set down on floor . Pull off the 4 heater control rubber nobs , then pull away heater panel from the right the ac button will come out as well real easy at this point too . You will have the radio cd or what ever you have fully exposed ... I was upgrading a JVC cd/radio to a JVC radio cd aux double USB & Bluetooth . I re spliced the wires to the new head unit .. It's easy even on new units it's 8 speaker wires 1 ground & 2/3 hots . I've done many stereo upgrades over the years but this little Toyota was just a little tricky to access , but once I got my head around it , it was easy . No cutting was needed in any way .. & it's dire looks nice now & is sturdy in its spot . Now I have power to my stereo , satellite radio, gps , iPads .. & not forgetting my dash mount GoPro camera . Just recharged the ac & now Bert the camper is running cooool
  10. Got it done today ... Hope the photos help anyone in the future ....
  11. We have a 1990 Toyota Dolphin .. When we bought the camper it had a awning in a long zipper bag hanging on the side, also inside the camper was a bag with what seemed a add-a-room .. All look unused hardly. As it was so cold in Canada we never got to even look at it in any way ... Well we are on a road trip & now in Mexico & I thought I'd like to use it to take some sun off the camper ... Well!!!!!!! Let me tell ya ... Me & the old lady got in a right tizz trying to put this awning up .. But gave up. Inside the zipper bad is a rolled up awning & a bunch of poles ... In the other bag I have what seems a canvas room with mozi panels to keep the bugs out, plus some pegs & ropes. Anyone have a photo with there Awning up .. It would really help. Thanks in advance
  12. Hi all I'm looking upgrade my stereo dash unit in my 1990 Toyota Dolphin .... It has been upgraded in the past to a cd/radio combo but I'm looking to swap out to my new stereo unit with aux input & Bluetooth .. So this is what I need ... Does anyone have some photos of the change they did , including what part of the dash you need to remove .. I've had a look over the job & I can't see where I would unscrew or pull away some of the plastic dash .. Any relative advice is very welcome Thanks in advance
  13. Hey Derek .. Yes sir a 1972 101 forward control (FC) .. I bought from the ex army surplus yard .. Had a rover V8 gas in it .. I transplanted a Perkins Phaser Diesel into it .. Had to change crown wheel & pinion gears front & back as it's live 4x4 to get it cruzing at 55mph @ 1800 rpm . The unit worked very well .. I shipped it back to the UK & sold it to fund another project . Sailfritz ... My wife holds them ? Just joking ... Ripped 3/4inch thick hard plastic board into 3inch wide strips 8 ft long .. Pre drilled 6 holes through the roof .. Sealent on roof & plastic strip & around hole .. Bolted through to inside camper .. Can't see bolts , they in storage cupboards . On top of 3inch strips coach bolted galvanized ring/eyes ... Kayaks sit on thin sponge , then 2 ratchet straps . Traveled 568km today on my first day of travel ... They still on the roof & my scooter still wants to come for the trip . Toyota doing very well .. Making notes on millage & gas prices .. Will update
  14. Toy home We leave for Mexico today from Manitoba Canada .... In our 1990 Dolphin .. Rad ... Hope to see you mid January ... PM me on your location Dan
  15. Will let y'all know how it holds up over the next 3 months of travel ... & the Toyota too Yes !!! we do use our camper as originally manufactured .. To travel in .. Expected trip miles is 15,000 this time ! . ... We are not home couch travelers !!!
  16. It was 196mph ... Seriously do you know any toy that can get over 55mph lol .... I'm sorry it must be a Anglo/Canadian thing ... Joking around ey . Peace right at ya ... I just think myself & Montana felt the new member was a little rude ... I have to say I'm a member of many groups & this one is very well run & has a great group base ... Very Helpfull ! . After fixing my brakes today ,, I've now fitted a parachute on the back !!
  17. Update !!!!!! Got it sorted I hope ... Removed the compensator bar & worked it up & down a bit then held it up over the exhaust .. Bled that nipple, took dome time to get a good flow, I'd say 5 cycles ... Then bled the rear wheel cylinders .. Rear brakes seem to be coming on strong now .. But only after adjusting the compensator more . Well I'm going to get it out the shop for a road test in a little while, it's snowing again so I need to wait . Thanks for all the fast advice ... Just Awesome Service
  18. Ok Awesome i will get at it .... Would you bleed to this compensator first , before the wheel cylinders ? It looks all in very good shape .. Ie not trust in any ways ... I will shoot some photos as I work on it .. Thanks agin
  19. Thanks Bufbooth & WME .. You both posted as I was ! .. Thanks guys .. I will get at it first thing in the morning & post how I get on & if I need more help . Thanks
  20. Ok Sorry guys for not getting back ... Ok .. I have the camper in my friends heated shop again ... " nice guy " .... Going to leave in over night & then go start looking in the morning . Yes hand brake works perfect ... I'll get the wheels off the ground & start bleeding first I guess ... Seems there is a bleed nipple on the load compensator .. Would you think I should bleed up to it first ? .. Then the wheel cylinders ? Did not want to start pulling down the hubs if I don't need too ... It's only just past it's safety inspection & the shoes are noted to be at 90% ... I'm hopping its a fluid issue ... Thanks again for getting back
  21. We will be leaving for a road trip Tuesday & would like to address a rear brake issue . I will try to explain the best I can ... We are now driving in town & minor roads on hard packed snow , today is -21c the warmest day we have had for 8 days . I got the toyota started & during my trip out to give my little beauty a run , it seems only my front brakes are working , pull on the hand parking brake slightly & the rv slows up nicely .. It seems to me the the rear cylinders may be stuck or seized .. Or could it be the rear load compensator be frozen up or not working ... At the temps I'm working in its not the best time to be pulling everything apart .. But would like to try to address the problem . I did notice earlier this fall that when backing out of my drive that is on a hill & gravel , the front end would skid a little when applying the brakes .. I will continue to look through the forums on this problem .. But if anyone has some photos of a pulled apart rear brake assembly I'd very much appreciate it .. Thanks in advance & sorry for bad gramer .. My hands are frozen
  22. Hey Montana .. I also was going to ask .. But thought someone would anyways ... Also presuming I'm insane & a drug user .. ... O well ! . Anyways it's Friday ..... Weekend
