  1. I wanted to hear some opinions on tire options for the 1990 Odyssey 4x4 build. It currently has 31x10.50 15 Load rating C, BF goodrich all terrains on from previous owner. They all appear to be in good shape and the vehicle has over 100k miles on it. If they were gonna fail, I think it would have happened by now. I know that everyone is going to say it needs load rating D tires for the weight. The RV VIN plate reads GVWR 5350 (2600 front/ 3000 rear). From my research, there are nearly no D rated all terrain tires in a 31x10.50 R 15. I have found a single tire of that size and rating in an all-terrain...

Now, I don't care for this tire due to it being an "off brand" Indian made tire that looks rather cheap (especially at $150 a tire). I would like to put BF Goodrich All-Terrains on it. Their C rating tire is rated at 2,270 lb. If my rear weight according to the vin plate is 3000, I imagine the BG Goodrich tires to be adequate for the weight. I'd much rather see a good brand / quality tire with the C rating, than an Indian no name brand tire with a D rating.

    Let me hear some opinions?

Do you have all the jigs set up and the filon rollers setup, so you can open Comvee RV Camper Manufacturing?😁

The filon installation has been the most difficult aspect of this build. I have used multiple adhesives and had multiple failures (including the most recent). It’s extremely difficult to work with and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it on this large of a scale!

It's so beautiful. What more can I say. I did think you were nuts when you started ripping it apart, but I am so glad I was completely wrong. You have created a work of art. Can't wait to see you posting pics of it all over the country when you finally start enjoying it.

Thanks! I thought I was nuts too, I still do haha. I’m thinking the end product will have been worth it all!

  4. I think I'm the motorcycle guy you're speaking of. You gotta love the frame work on these Toy rigs! Just cheap and light enough to work. Are you just rebuilding this as another RV? If I understood your post correctly, you are NOT going to be hauling a motorcycle? If not, you're fine to keep it as is as long as there isn't extensive rust or weld seams separating. That bumper has absolutely no tongue weight storage ability!

Hey Mr. Odyssey 4x4. Check out the $$$

85 grand!!! I’m not sure id expect to get much more than half of that for mine! Much nicer and more capable platforms for that type of money. It’s still cool though 😎

  6. i broke a window in my old escaper. It was tempered and broke into a million tiny pieces. An automotive glass place had the ability to do it, but it would take weeks since the glass needed to be sent off for tempering. Being on the road and out of my home state, i wasn’t able to wait. I stopped at a plexiglass specialty shop. He cut me up a new piece and we popped it in within 30 minutes for $50 bucks which I was happy to pay. It worked for the remainder of the road trip!

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I know this is like 7 years old at this point, but having this resource with a similarly weighted bike to my newest acquisition is amazing! My previous owner replaced the bumper with a 4x4 wooden post, so I was going to be looking at a bumper remodel with my rebuild, but this resource is amazing as I want to be able to bring my new bike as my companion. (Besides my dog that is!)

so thank you again for this, will be stashing it for future use.

Glad to hear my posts are still appreciated! 🤙

  8. I wanted to try out an LED upgrade on mine since the old schools were almost useless. I find most of the LED upgrades pretty ugly but these weren't too bad. This did require a ground upgrade harness as well as an inline resistor to keep the high beam indication light on the dash functional. They are nice and bright and have a good cutoff line in the light. The high beam is not much brighter than the low, but I will also be putting some auxiliary offroad lights on the bumper. I haven't put a bunch of time on these since the project isn't finished, but the hour drive I did on them was great compared to the originals!
