  1. The GVW at back of the MH is almost over loaded but the front is not with some left over. Does mounting the spair tire and wheel on the front in front of the radiator block the air flow to the radiator? Other notes, 1992 Winnebago Winnie, found tight engine valves, runs better now. Built a track bar/pannard rod, bar from frame to axel at the rear. Keeps the coach from swaying side for side in wind. ie body over the axel. Not a antisway bar, that trys to stop the "lean" of the coach. Track bar does help steering control also. Used 2 140 Volvo track bar, cut in half and used the small ends. Used one additional toyota spring clamp "u" bolt and hooks under stock "U". Mounts on axel drivers side and frame pass. side. Sandwitch mounting plates around frame on pass side. Hard to clear brake stuff on pass side. 6k trip works great. Built reciver for Bike rack, build channel to fit inside of frame horns/ends at sq. tube "hose holder." Weld plates on end of channels to bolt to the flange,( vertical section of the frame) of the MH frame ends at hose holder. The channel takes the weight. Angle iron runs front beside the holding tank(it is off to the pass side a bit) to the front, to a angle iron installed rignt left accross the frame. 12000 miles, it works good, it bike wheel, does block the pass side tail light some what. Need to install additonal tail/stop light. Holds ONLY two bikes. To remove the roof A/C will motel it when hot at night. Have not used roof A/C to in three labor/memorial trips to CA, from ND. We have not had to motel it, we just head for a lake or the mountains for the nights camping when it is hot. TR 145 http://www.volvoadventures.com/220spec.html
  2. Thanks for the replys. The weight ready to go- driver only, 1/2 fuel, no bicycles, Front 1900lbs GAVW 2300 Rear 4180lbs GAVW 4400 Wife will add some to front end, but all other will go to the back. Can bolt 200lbs under the bumper if needed but will run to CA. this Memorial Week end this with out weight under the bumper. If anyone is at Strawberry look us up in the meadow under the big pine tree. Toyota with North Dakota plates. The steering grear has no free play, it does not return to straight ahead after turns, will try to put a little free play in it. Alingment was off but did not make much difference. ( toe and camber off) Thanks TR145
  3. Just got back from our first trip in the 1991 Winnebago Warrior 21.5 foot long. Does anyone have any thoughts on steering wander? On a good road it has some wander but on a rutted road it takes off to either side. The steering wheel must be played back and forth to keep it on the road. The front end has been looked at, just a safety check, tomorrow it goes in for a front end alingment. Some question- what shocks seem to work good? Does the stock steering damper have much effect, if not, where can a better one be found? Has anyone used a bigger front anti sway bar? Thanks TR145
  4. Hi, Our 1991 min Winnebago has a dead short? When the ground on the coach battery is hooked up the inverter relay clicks and then resets and then clicks. Pulled the fuses, still clicks, previous owner put a switch in the ground wire. It has a Magnetek 6300a inverter, Noted in the teck section they are not good. Will buy other unit but, would like to narrow it down to the inverter or something else before puting in the new unit. Thanks Trana
  5. We try to take a different road from Fargo ND to Yosemite CA and back, or Fargo to Yosmite to Portland OR to Fargo by two lane roads. Since 2000 we have made it 12 times. Some areas 4 lanes are best, Reno Nev. to Wells Nev. but two lanes are out there and most of them are very good. We used to run a 6.9 4x4 and fuel was a concern late at night but gas rig should be great. Just grab the map and go. If you want a out line of the road traveled I can, but should I post on this forum. Thanks TR145
  6. Just bought a 1991 Toyota Winnebago MH, 21 foot. Looks like you have a good forum. We drive from ND to CA twice year and are looking forward to using the Toyota. We hope we will not be asking to many questions. Thanks TR145
