  1. So I was backing my RV into it's spot last night when I heard a pop, and it lost all power and ability to move. The RV is gutted and not overweight. The engine is stock and makes less than 100HP. Here's why: Driver's side to compare: Does anyone have a spare axle shaft laying around they could sell me?
  2. I am putting a transmission with transfer case in my 2wd (I think, 20'?) RV. It has a 22R engine, but with my stuff in it it's hard to drive up the dirt roads to go camping. A low range will help that a bunch. (Plus a ratcheting locker in the rearend:)) I want to know if anyone knows the exact stock wheelbase. Apparently it was built on an RN44 pickup truck, which is the deluxe cab (Not extended cab) long bed. It has a 110" wheelbase. Right now it *appears* to be a 133" wheelbase, but I want to know... for sure. It looks like with the G52 trans and xfer case, I'll need to add 17" to the rear driveshaft to meet up with the pumpkin.
  3. I have this *exact* same model. I rebuilt the engine and trans, put in a full floater in it (Mines a model 500, 1982) and gutted the inside out except for the wheel wells. I've been camping in it several times like this (Oh, and I left the toilet.) and it's great! But I have a sagging roof, a floor that is collapsing, and rot/ damage everywhere. Basically I will be doing what you are doing. Hey- are those 2x2's or 1x1's in the wall? I want to insulate mine with polystyrene foam sheets.
  4. You must be proud! Yes, these motor homes are the perfect size. I have a Basenji mix rescue that is my constant companion. Lil pups are the best
  5. Hi, I'm Dave. 33 years old. Good with mechanical things, electronics and electrical. 82 Dolphin, I retrofitted the full floater on it (Had one on hand). Good with my hands. People tell me I paid way too much for the rotted out RV. I would have paid more than I did. Rebuilding the engine right now, 22R, upgrading to 5 speed, to see how it goes. Looking for gas mileage. I'm single, looking for an adventurous mate. May have found her in Belarus Also have two dogs, who are my fur- kids. )
  6. Hi, Timmy! You rock!! If solar panels are a little expensive, have you considered going halfers with a friend and buying just the cells? You can make your own custom shaped panels that way, and have hundreds of watts of power. $400 buys you $1,000 watts of cells alone. There's plywood, glass, etc to consider as well, but it's a good bargain. Hey, do you use a charge controller? You should...
