  1. Here she is. very clean and not a leak ever! Folks I bought it from even delivered it for free. I am in Iraq and they were gonna keep it on thier property for me but offered to deliver it!! Super nice people!! It has just over 59k on the clock. 22RE Auto. I have plans to upgrade the radiator and put a trans cooler on it. Also gonna upgrade the gears to 4.88. I have been on here for awhile getting advice. I have had several toyota's in the past but this is my first Toybox. I have wanted one for a long time. They delivered it from Rochester NY to my folks place in Martinsburg WV. They are now friends. We have had many conversations and they are proud supporters of US troops. Even though I'm a contractor now. I retired from the US Navy. Super nice awesome honest people they are!! Thanks go out to Dave and Annette for selling and delivering me this awesome RV!
  2. Totem: Thanks for the info. Sounds like I need to come to deer camp with you! Seems like my kind of crowd. I am planning to buy 2 for my upcoming trip. Alot of places rent scooters in Key west for getting around. I am planning to stay at Sigsbee which is the military campground. My only concern there is if I have to go through a gate there the MP's will require me to wear too much safety gear in all that heat. Might have to stay elsewhere if thats the case. I am a firm bliever in safety but the military bases require reflective vests. Boots and such which sucks if ya just want to put around town. I am also towing my Kawasaki Concours on a light single rail trailer but I don't want to ride that for short trips and errands. I will be upgrading to 4.88 gears before the trip and have a welder buudy who is gonns beef things up for me and put on a hitch. Tongue weight will 100lbs or so. Total weight of bike and trailer will be just over 800lbs. The scooters will probably be inside the Toybox for the trip. Where are you located? Anyway thanks again!! Paul
  3. I'm not sure one exists. I watched a video of a guy rebuilding a Toyota Landcruiser rear full floater and it had a gasket. Just wondering!
  4. Does anyone have the part number for the paper gasket? The one on the very outside where the axle is bolted on.
  5. totem: So how long have you had your scooters? have you had any issues? Are the power, speed and range up to what they claim? These two companies seem to have a beef with each other. The super turbo 800 elite is simalarly priced as the 1000 model you have. Same batteries etc. I just don't want to buy a headache. We are going to Key West in the Toyhome I recently got and want to use them to ride into town etc.
  6. Would you mind sharing your source or is it classified?
  7. Hello all: I'm thinking about purchasing a Super Turbo Elite scooter for myself and the little woman. Has anyone here used them? They are small and would fit somewhere in the RV during transit I'm sure. Here's the link to thier website. They sell them on amazon and have great reviews. If you have one or a good alternative to recommend let me know. http://www.google.com/url?q=http://superscootersales.com/&sa=U&ei=_dOmT_O3C5TfgQfJ5PDUAQ&ved=0CCIQFjAB&usg=AFQjCNEjmGYi48V2p5iyVROMOq5_WpcgpA
  8. Well Derek. I think I'm leaning towards the 4.88 now. if I don't like it I can have my 4.10 third regeared to 4.56 and change to that. I'm sure I'll never go back to 4.10 again. I don't mind going slow say 55-60. But when I'm pulling hills I'd like to be able to go faster than some have reported. And being able to have some pulling power in OD will be nice.
  9. Yeah I hear you on that. I'm just bored and looking around. I'm still undecided on 4.56 or 4,88. I know you have seen my posts on the Yahoo group. I'm sure I will get more responses which will help me decide.
  10. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Truck-4Runner-4-56-G-DIFFERENTIAL-REAR-END-6?item=350558697535&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7969906053186762295 Would this be what I need for the regear?
  11. I saw this one coming! I agree with you to a certain extent. However I have never had any noticable adverse effects from doing this and I did not research what they put in the 22RE as factory. it's still 10 deg cooler which might give the poster a warm fuzzy feeling when the guage reads a little lower.
  12. What temp T stat did you put in it? Most have a 195 deg from the factory. I always change to a 180deg. I get a noticable drop on th guage and plenty of heat in the winter. If I lived way up north I might run a 195 in the winter. just my 2 cents. 15 Deg is noticable!
  13. Thanks! The bike and trailer will probably be around 800lbs. From your input here I'm thinking the 4.56 might just be the way to go.
  14. I would like to refocus this to regearing. If I do a manual swap its not gonne be for awhile if ever pending the outcome of my regear. So for those who have done it with a 22RE auto what worked best for you? 4.56 or 4.88? Also how far off did these mods change indicated speed and is there a correction available for that? I'm afraid 4.56 might not be enough and maybe 4.88 will be too much. Any actual stories from those who have done this?
  15. do you know if there is a 2wd version of the H55 that will work with the Toybox? The landcruiser guys swear by that one!
  16. Well I will be buying a third member with the gearing I choose either 4.56 or 4.88. I hope to not have to convert to manual for quite some time. May not do it at all if I'm happy with the regear. So I will still have my original 4.10 third to put back in if I go manual. Thanks for the info!! Paul
  17. Well after reading up a bit more on this and considering I want to tow my bike I'm thinking I might go 4.88 on the gears. thanks to all that replied! BTW does anybody here have a good third member with 4.88's they want to sell?
  18. I am in Iraq. I thought you wanted to know where I live stateside. I'm at Camp Taji right now.
  19. I am retired Military and no I am not sightseeing! LOL I am in the Martinsburg, WV area. I think I'm gonna go with the 4.56 gears because I'm gonna have some frame reinforcement done and a hitch so I can drag the bike along. I think it will be good. I don't need to go fast. Just wanna be able to climb the hills a little better and actually cruise in overdrive. I was thinking about a manual swao too but that will have to wait until the Auto dies.
  20. Wow! Thenks Derek! Yeah I joined the Yahoo group but it is not very user friendly IMHO. I like this place much better. I am taking the Granville from the Martinsburg, WV area to Key west FL when I get back. Pretty flat driving there. One hill to climb on route 50 coming out of Winchester VA. I'm just gonna get a feel for the rig. I'm starting off fresh with a new 3 row Radiator and trans cooler and 180 deg thermostat. I always take out the 195ers. I figure thats 15 deg cooler. Heat is a drivetrains enemy! After my trip down I'm gonna take I26 to I77 upthrough Charlotte into VA to I81. I'll find out how much of a dog it is then. If I'm unhappy with that then I'm gonna probably go with the 4.56 regear. Thanks alot!!
  21. It would be nice if some of them could chime in with their results. My new to me Granville is going to be delivered to my folks house on May 4th. I am in Iraq and won't get to mess with it till I get back. Its good to go for my trip when I get home. very nice unit that was stored indoors. Tires and brakes are all good. The PO took it to the shop and got it inspected and a fresh oil change. He is dropping it off for me. Super nice folks. I will be putting a tachometer in it and I will check out RPM's and such. Then if I regear it I will let you guys know the results. I am a big Toyota fan and I have had 3 4X4 trucks. 3 Landcruisers. Still have an 86 FJ60. I also had an old 84 corolla. The Granville is super clean. I have lots of photos and 4 videos of it. I think I'll get an online photo bucket going and post up a link. I love these Forums! I join them for all my hobbies. I'm on Ih8mud and COG. Concours Owners Group for my 2008 Kawasaki Concours 14. This is the best place to get information and tips. I am also planning to tow my bike which is about 600lbs on a 200lb trailer eventually. I know what some of you are gonna say but I have read it all on here!! Now someone please post up some actual info on the whole gear swap thing please.
  22. Yeah it now has the 6 lug axle. I have not yet driven it but everyone says these are dogs and they want to put new engines in them. Is there anyone out there that regeared with any success? I read that once you hit overdrive its hard to maintain speed. What RPM's are people seeing at say 55-60 in overdirve with the 22RE auto. If I changed it to say 4.56 or 4.88 then that should help drivability but I don't want it screaming at 55-60. Just thinking it would help out overall with minimal loss of fuel economy. Also it might just improve fuel economy with a minor regear because you would'nt have to keep your foot in it as much.
  23. Ok so back to my original question. Does anyone have a comprhensive list of the RV's that were made of aluminum vs wood framing? I want a Sunrader and I know what they're made of. But if I can't find one I like and go with another brand I would like to search for models that did not use wood framing. Thanks Paul
  24. Thanks for the replies. I am currently keeping an eye on the Sunrader on Ebay. My problem is I can't pick it up right away if I buy it. Anyone on here near St pete Fl and want to store it for me? So incase I can't find a Sunrader I want and go with another brand I would like it to have the Aluminum frame. I am open to other brands though. Especially if they have no rot!!
