Greetings. First post as I am considering buying an old Toyota RV so I joined as part of my internet research. First off this post will come off as silly and uninformed as I was scared to seriously look at it when I had a chance as I couldn't lay down the cash. It's stored in a dimly lit semi-climate controlled metal warehouse and I got a squinty dim view of it from about 25 feet away. Tomorrow I will go again to find out what manufacturer it is and other fine details.
So guys, tax money is almost mine and I'm drooling over this 1980 Toyota motor-home that's for sale across town at a pawn shop by the owner who's seems reputable (and I've heard very honest). All I know at this point is it is a ridiculously low mileage (we're talking granny mobile, less than 20K) 1980 w/ 22r engine, everything else pretty much works, and it's mine for a good price. The catch? He says it has a "vacuum problem". I know little of this other than I know an air intake leak on my motorcycle causes it to run poorly. Are we talking the same thing or is this type of vacuum something else entirely? How much would I be looking at ballpark, on the high end, to get it sorted? I'm also planning on taking a competent mechanic to look over everything with me b4 I purchase. Again, I don't even know the maker...I do know it's single axle dually so that rules out the Heritage. Most likely it is a Huntsman but it might (and I'm hoping) even be a Dolphin. If it turns out to be a well kept Sunrader I'll flip out. Tomorrow, can't wait.
