  1. The relay is mounted on what would be the clutch pivot, under dash, it is marked as such, simply unplug it, run a jumper wire between the top 2 female connections with a switch in line, and you now can select to use overdrive, anytime even over the 4k limit that is factory. Did this to an 86 dolphin, though the trans and set up should be the same no matter what the actual camper manufacture is.
  2. If I were going to replace, I'd go with a v-6, or better yet, throw a v-8 in. Either would give lots better power. Had an 86 dolphin with 22re, just didnt' have enough juice, headwinds, hills and wouldn't maintain speed.
  3. Trip complete, no issues with Yota at all. Just over 3k miles rolled, used under 1/3 quart of oil. Hard rain in Nashville was the only real weather encountered, and I mean HARD rain, tornando's all around, missed them all. Got a low of 15mpg, a high of 19, not bad considering pulling a trailer and the blasted head winds! Stayed at lots of state parks, cheap and real nice. Quiet, most with lakes and lots of wildlife to view, campfires and pretty much vacant! Yota is up for sale now, will post on here another day, just don't plan on using it, so someone will get it that will use it.
  4. From Chino Valley to Bluff UT, spending the eve in a small park, prices very decent, nice set up. Yota does work hard on hills, am pulling a small trailer with about 400lbs on it, two people and my buddy Max. Headed back south tomorrow to 4 corners, then follow 40 east to the next stop, which we have no idea just where it'll be.
  5. Paul, not sure what "air" your talking about...tires/air bags? I have an 86 Dolphin also, installed heavy duty air shocks on it{much easier than air bags}and I have them set @ 150, max is 200, getting ready for a cross country road trip and may take them up closer to max when loaded.

  6. Starting a road trip the March 30th, Chino Valley Arizona to Lincoln Vermont. Sister is flying out from Vermont to partake in this adventure. 1st night will be Monument Valley, from there no real plan, just where ever we decide to head out to.
  7. First, does it work at all? Either side? If it does, turn the one on that does work and "listen" for it. If it doesn't, I think it may be under the right side kick panel .
  8. I have contact with a guy that has an e-bay store, and can match up just about anything to air shocks, heavy duty ones. Put them on my 86 Dolphin with no problems at all. Were less than one hundred delivered. Any interest? Contact me and I will forward this guys info on to you. Cabinguy
  9. The relay is located on the housing right next to the brake pedal, it is on the part of the bracket that would mount the clutch pedal if it were a standard transmission. Hard to miss it, mine is blue in color and it even says transmission relay on it{after you dismount it from mentioned bracket you'll see it printed on the side} Is three wires going to it.
  10. There are several postings about folks that have done this overide, but no one comes right out and spells it out. At least I can't find where anyone has. I have an 86 Dolphin with auto tranny, and of coarse if has done the no OD above 4k feet. I live above that number, so would like to know how this is actually done. Thanks in advance to anyone that can outline this for me.
