  1. I. own a 1991 mini Winnie. My wipers and the water washer stopped working. I suspect a blown fuse, but question if both the spray motor and the wiper motor are on the same fuse. If they are how is the fuse identified in the fuse box under the hood? I can sure use some sage advice.

  2. I've simce found the isolator isn't passing the alternater current to the coach side. I replaced it and that problem is resolved. After camping in Yosemite last week (tons of bear) after 4 days I tested the furnace and it wouldn't work. I started the truck engine and walla it came on. A simple act for you folks but a new lesson for me. Again I thank you for your help.

  3. My goodness you both are a wealth of information. You ought to start your own sales yard for toy motorhomes. Oh yea they don't make them anymore. I cleaned the contacts on the panel and that seems to have helped greatly. Now my black tank goes to full read at 8 gallons while my grey reads full at 6 gallons. There are no "pots" to adjust on the panel that i can see ( I removed the panel and examined it). I continued to add water and the black took 14 gallons, but the grey was overflowing into the shower tub at 8 gallons as I put water in at the sink. Any thoughts on this?

  4. My problem is now determining what the actual levels are in my holding tanks. For example when my black water tank has 1 gallon of fill it reads full (top bar) on my meter panal. When drained it reads zero. If my tank holds 14 gallons is there an adjustment? My grey tank is similarly inaccurate. Appreciate comments.

  5. I also have some bulging on the rear on my winnie below the window. I called Winnebego and they said if the M.H. no longer leaks it is probably good to go. It is just a tad unsightly. But Derek brought up an interesting thought about putting glue through a drilled hole. What type of glue and what method might be used to press the siding in?

  6. If you bought the "black" Black Jack you probably bought the wrong stuff. The white elastomeric roof coating is the stuff to use. On a hot day, the interior of your motorhome will be unbearably hot from the black roof coating and the stuff gets pretty soft and runny. So soft that leaves and other junk will drop into it and stick there permanently. Get the white stuff that's applied with a brush or roller and put at least two coats on the roof.

The roof coating is white siliconized coating. I think I'm OK there. It states it has a 10 year wear. I'm told to apply 2 applications. Are there any precautions or just clean and roll?

  7. Well, 6 fixes down many to go. My next project is to fix a leaking roof. I replaced the foam gasket between the airconditioner and the roof. It still leaks water. A. How tight should the nuts be bolted down on the gasket? B. Any suggestions as to applying roof sealent? I bought 2 gallons of "Black Jack" ultra roofing 1000 elastomeric coating. Am I good so far? Now what?

  8. Generally, it's mounted on the inner fender on the passenger side, near the truck battery. There'll be a large wire coming off 1 side going to the truck battery and another large (same size) wire that'll disappear to the coach battery. There'll be a 3rd large wire to the alternator. Finally, there'll be a 4th smaller 'contol' wire that will signal the isolator that the engine is running. Once you locate it, I'd suggest that you undo (1 at a time!) each of the wires and give them a good clean and tighten.

Then you can check voltage at each of the terminals with the engine off and then running.

Thanks Derek. I measured 14 volts going into the isolator from both the alternater and the truck battery , and with the coach terminal removed from it I measured 0 volts of the coach side of the isolator. I went to Kragens and bought a 4 post solid state isolator ($32) which gave me 13 volts on the coach side. I think it works even with the 1 volt drop through the isolator.

  9. Back again! Now my project is solving the problem of why my coach battery won't charge from the alternater. Shore power I measure 13.7 volts into the battery. Engine power I measure 12.2 volts. I read in the elctrical forum that it's most likely the isolator. How can I tell and where is it at? I have a 91 Winnie.

  10. My fridge is a Dometic RM2401. My question is 1. How long does it take to chill the fridge from a propane start? 2. Should the fire box (on the back of the fridge) be too hot to touch? I can't see the pilot through the reflector, however I can hear the flame ignite the burner.

  11. Thank you all for sharing your advice. Maineah was right on this one. I put a charger on the coach battery, went inside and turned on the furnace and after 20 second or soTHE FLAME CAME ON. Now I need to know why my coach battery was low. My trucks alternator charges the coach battery as well as the toys battery right?

  12. Hello I have a 1987 Slumber Queen took it camping last weekend and my fridge was no working I had it on propane and it stayed lit but the fridge was not cold when I got home I switched it on elec and still nothing the fridge worked fine last summer anyone have some ideas on what else to try.

    Andre

I just returned from my 2nd outing in my 91 winnebego and had a similar problem. Before I left home (elevation 600ft)

the frige seemed to be working just fine on both ac and propane. When I arrived at my destination (6500ft) the frige wouldnt work. The pilot display stayed on (but the reflector was very weak). On my arrival home it started working again? Elevation?

  13. Mikie,

Went to the bottom of King's Canyon last year and wish I could get back again. Anyway when you first turn on the furnace the blower motor will run for about ten seconds before the gas valve opens and igniter sparks. If you only get the fan motor, check the voltage at the furnace. It will not let the gas valve operate if your voltage is not pretty full; in this way if the battery is low and the fan slows down the furnace will not overheat and cause a fire. Can you hear the furnace "clicking" shortly after the fan begins to run? If you do the igniter is sparking - that would leave the gas valve as suspect. If full voltage and no clicking then look at the igniter. Hope this helps.

I'll check for the "clicking" sound and measure voltage. Thanks Seamus

  14. I don't know about a kit but valves can be added for hi and low side for servicing their are some clamp on piercing type& solder on which are better but it can be checked by temps also. The 9000 BTU unit is just barely enough cooling for a 21 footer adding freon if it doesn't need it won't help. I'm wondering where you live the furnace is the last thing on my mind at this time.

Yes I understand your wisdom Tom. I live in the Fresno area of Calif, and camped in Lasan Natiional Park 2 weeks ago. My wife has a comfort zone between 68 and 72. It got down to 40, so you see why I asked about the furnace. I bought this coach 8 months ago and am trying to make all things right. My gen is a Kohler 2.5kw which is probably boarderline as well. We are going to Kings Canyon National Park on Weds to escape the heat, so I was hoping to meet her comfort zone. I do thank you for sharing your thoughts.
