1. My box truck had a hole I could fit my fist through in the same spot. Also had one on the driver's side. It caused me to replace the whole floor of the cab.
2. That's awesome! I wish one of my trucks were 4WD!
3. I still haven't replaced the shocks in my truck, haven't really used it to justify the expense. Kinda just sits around collecting snow, just like the camper
4. Awesome, I'll attack it with my MIG on the lowest power setting. I've been using the MIG a BUNCH lately replacing the floor pans (oh what fun that's been) so that'll be a quick job. Are you thinking a magnet to put in the pan to catch the fine metal shavings from normal wear? If so, I have some super powerful magnets (magnasavers, look them up on fleabay. These things will suck a ratchet out of your had from about a foot away) attached to the axillary transmission filter.
5. I was thinking of pulling and welding it, but I only have a MIG and that pan is Aluminum right? Once I pull that pan I'm no longer mobile, I daily drive this thing. I already have JB Weld on there, and although it worked great for a little while, it started leaking profusely after a few months. I don't want to steal any drivetrain parts off the camper for this thing, I've already raped the cab interior for a whole bunch of stuff.
6. Still unable to find a pan for this thing, it's leaking about a quart every few days. It's getting REALLY expensive even to have it just sitting. Anyone have one lying around (No, there's no local junkyards and even if there were everyone in new england sold their toyota for scrap)
7. I ripped off one of my clearance lights on Friday in the aftermath of a severe thunder/hail storm. I went to uHaul's website to get a replacement, and noticed the speedometer cable under the electrical section!! Anyway, it's $86 SHIPPED which is better than my local toyota dealer, and anoy of the ones I could find online. I think I'll be going that route (and get my @#$^ clearance light replaced before DOT pulls me over). There's a bunch of good parts on uHaul's site for the Toyota 1-ton chassis, I've purchased parts there before that are much cheaper than the Toyota dealer's prices, check it out www.uhaultruckparts.com As a side note, my transmission pan that needs replacing is 136.70!!!! I need to find a used one for CHEAP, the JB weld is starting to leak. According to uHaul my transmission is an A340LE. Going to look and see if I can find a pan somewhere..
8. Saint Johnsbury/Danville. What parts do you have kicking around? I don't need anything (well I do, just not engine parts), but it's always good to have some spares.
9. Damn, this is an old thread... I hate you all, I don't think I've gotten better than 10MPG in my truck, but then I'm usually passing the general population. I'd love to see this, do you have pictures?
10. Got a reply! "Chris, The part number is 83710-35480. I can sweeten the deal, take twenty bucks off, plus I'll ship it in Vermont for free." That brings it down to $113.29 shipped, but those two websites have it for $80.56 & $84.90 before shipping. EDIT: I don't see 89-91 pickup on that list, which worries me...
11.

Yeah, If I didn't get the speedo fixed I'd be using a GPS for speed tracking, doesn't help me with mileage and oil changes though =] I'm waiting to hear beck from the Toyota dealer on the part number, because that's exactly what I'm going to do when I get it. Funny thing, the VIN comes back on both sites as a Toyota 4Runner
12. Thanks for those links, unfortunately the only thing I can fond there are the speedometer gears... (?) Sent an email to the local (local as in 40 mile trip) Toyota dealer. Yeah, they want $142.63 for it! Then I need to drive there and back, which is going to be about $50 in gas; so yeah total for the speedo cable is about $200. Right there is justification for me to: a) Drive without a speedometer, forever. Give up fixing the camper, and start stealing parts.
13. Speedometer cable in my truck seems to need a replacement. This afternoon while driving I noticed it was bouncing, which it never has before... About 10 minutes later, the needle dropped like a rock. Shortly after my O/D OFF light started blinking. Seems like the cable has failed and I need to replace it. I'm going to go around to some autoparts stores tomorrow and see if anybody has one (usually they don't have ANY parts I'm looking for). I have a feeling I'll be ordering this offline like all my car parts, and was wondering if this is the correct cable? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dorman-TECHoice-03205-Speedometer-Cable-/160583230585?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1990|Make%3AToyota&hash=item256381a479 Summit also seems to carry the Dorman 03205 Speedometer Cable if eBay doesn't work out, but I'm unsure if it's the correct one, that end connector that goes into the transmission looks different.
14. Hmmm, a large tarp would be a good idea, and the ideas of building a pitched roof are good also. I might end up going with a large tarp and making a collapsible pitched roof to brace the tarp up. I need to build two, one for the box truck and another for the motorhome.
15. I still haven't replaced the shocks in the truck since it's not driven in the winter. I've never ran air shocks in anything before, do these require air lines like bags would? I already have an OBA setup so that's no issue.
16. I'm sure Derek can attest to this... Now that the Aermicana is mine, I'd like to keep it around for a while. I was hoping to get the frame damage (broken crap welds) repaired before the winter, but I just didn't have the time. Now the camper is sitting outside under a little more than a foot of snow. This thing sat for three years, gone through three winters without getting the roof shoveled off; but I'm sure that added to the internal damage and might even be part of the cause of the broken welds. Well last week I was up on the roof shoveling it off. I shovel off the roof of my Toyota box truck when it snows because I don't want it to cave in (seen it happen before in-person). I figured I'd shovel off the Odyssey while I was at it. Well, while I was up there shoveling I heard the roof cracking and making horrible noises (it's a nice warm 10* out here). There were no vidible cracks in the fiberglass (I looked real good because I freaked out), but the noises were enough to get me off the roof. I don't have a ladder tall enough to get me up near the roof to shovel it off, and I don't want to walk on the roof for the fear of cracking the fiberglass. What to you guys up north that don't have a garage to store your motorhome in do? I'd like to get one of those huge snow-rated carports - but I could almost build a garage for the price of them.
17. Hey, I live in the St Johnsbury area.

18. I don't think it's a motor mount, because the crossbrace that I removed looked like it had a little bit of rock rash. If you look *really* close in the pictures, you can see it's tweaked a little bit.
19. Well, I have yet to replace the dipstick, but when I get the camper in the shop and fix the frame I'm going to have to actually start looking. After tightening up the clamps on the remote transmission filter, it's still leaking profusely. I thought the leak was there, but now I'm thinking the pan is rusted where the crossmember touches it. Might be a hole from abrasion when the frame twists and divetrain moves. Regardless, I'm going to remove the crossmember and take a look. EDIT: Put the truck up on the lift and within a little while this was under it I was suspecting this crossmember as the problem all along Crossmember removed and wiped down. That's A LOT of abrasion to eat into it like that Wiped the pan down, and have this nice steady drip. This was instantly And this is lovely. I had the WHOLE interior out of the truck last October, and there was no rust on the floor AT ALL. Now there's a huge hole!
20. Thanks for that! I searched the inventory of my local stores, and of course they don't have anything in stock (other than the NAPA brands that exclude 1-tons). The mounts look the same between my box truck and motorhome. On my motorhome, the factory Toyota frame was torched off right behind the rear axle. Sweet, they have some good prices. Now I just have to decide between the cheap route with the Monroe Monroe Gas-Magnums or the $100 more expensive route with the Bilstein Heavy Duties
