  1. Well to update evrybody I put Betty on a trailer and pulled her from the sault to sarnia via my pickup it was quite the haul lol anyway now that i got it bck here i had a machine shop spray weld the axle and press in new bearings seems to b working great haven't driven to far though and stilll looking for the proper rear end. i am also still experiencing the overheating issue. it seems to b fine at speeds up to 80 km/hr however 10 min. at 80 or slightly more and the needle gets right up to the red if i turn on the heater or slow down to 60 then it drops bck down i flushed the rad and put in new plugs still haveing the sam prob. i had my mechanic look at it and he charged me 40 bucks to tell me he didn't know what the problem was and to just not drive over 60 lol any help would b greatly appreciated

  4. ok let me start with how the wife and i came to b stranded. My grandma, (previous owner of our little dolphin Betty ) passed away 3 weeks ago she bought betty 4 yrs ago in Sarnia and drove her 25 hrs. to Fort Frances, ON she had to replace the tires and baby her the last leg of the trip as the axle was thumping (as i found out l8tr ) and wore out the tires badly . when she got there my uncle replaced the axle on one side (600.00 bucks from toyota shipped from california) apparently only one side was bad. I bought Betty from my grandmas estate for 200.00 bucks went to pick her up and got her safetied. I realized she had the bad 5 lug rear end but was assured that since the one axle was replaced would b fine to get it home. Now to the stranded part a couple of hours after i left on our big fishing adventure i heard a thumping from the rear end and continued on anxiously after about another 6 hours the charge light and brake light came on. the thumping hadn't changed a whole lot but couldn't control it, ie. brakeing to cause or stop it or accellerating. after staying at friends place that is quite remote, no way to really chk on things we continued. oh yeah i also replaced the thermostat as was overheating. We then arrived here in Sault where a friend of mine lives (Terrys Auto) we have now identified the key issues after a rebuilt alternator (50 bucks) the lights went out (charge and brake light) but still not sure about the overheating haven't really tested it (too nervous to drive it ) the other side of the axle is now shot. the race that seats to the shaft is sloppy, and can't afford the 600 bucks from toyota to ship another axle which would b for the crappy 5 lug dually anyway sooooo really need to find the floating one ton axle please feel free to respond with any sugg. or sites i have already scoured this site and have learned tons from u guys looking forward to becoming a proud and happy new dolphinite pics of current hubs and Betty attached
