  1. Hi all--just had to put new tires on our 92 Itasca Spirit and had trouble locating acceptable tires. Settled for Continental Vanco 2 tires as I could not find any others that were available! Anyway, our Yokohama 356 tires were run at 50 psi. New tires have a 65psi maximum listed. My question is what pressure do I run at? Had the garage pump to 60psi but would like your input before I go too far. We will be leaving for points South soon to escape the cold weather here in Pennsylvania and will be living in the Toy for about six months. Thanks in advance for your help.
  2. Glad you found it interesting/helpful. We have found that you can handle both heat and cold very well if you are prepared in advance.
  3. Hi--DW and I have been full-timing for 15 years and are based out of New Jersey. We have been in single digit temperatures (not as cold as Illinois!!), and we have lived in seven different RVs during that time, three of which were Toyota based rigs. Our current 92 Itasca Spirit is new to us and we anticipate our first winter in it. We will escape Winter during December and head South until Spring returns. A web-site that is very helpful with wintering in an RV is www.sankey.ws/rvwinter.html Also try using several different search engines and ask about winter RV camping and you will be surprised at what you will find. If you want to ask me about specifics, please feel free to e-mail me at chartrue2@aol.com
  4. Hi all--would like answer as to the use of the jack supplied by Toyota. We have a 93 Itasca Spirit and I discovered that the jack is missing. We have had three Toyotas and I have never had to use the jack, but should be occassion arise, does the jack that is supplied by Toyota lift our motorhomes? Whenever I have had a tire problem, we call emergency road service. I like to keep my baby in great shape and will replace the missing jack, but want to know if it will do the job or if I should carry something that will. Thanks in advance for your input.
  5. Hi--it is hard to beat the Olympian catalytic heaters. We have a 3000btu unit installed under the dinette table in our Toy and it really does the job. It was an easy installation taking propane off the LP line to the frig. These heaters do not use the battery and there is no flame. Have to remember to crack open a window as they do use oxygen from within the house. Hope this helps.
  6. Hi Chris--my DW and I "more or less" full time in our 92 Itasca Spirit. We travel from November till May down South for the warm weather and then spend about six months in the mountains of Pennsylvania. We have a 1950 Spartan trailer which is on a permanent site. When we are parked in PA, we use the trailer for television and as a guest house, but we continue to sleep and bathe in the Toyota. This is our third Toyota home and although we have had every other kind of rig including a 36 foot Class A motorhome, we keep coming back to Toyota homes. I would be interested in more information about how you full time in your Toyota.
  7. Hey-how about some numbers and specs for the refer? Went to the edgestar site and cannot find on that uses the power sources you mentioned. I think you can cap the propane line with a simple 3/8" brass cap. Sorry, don't have a clue about the wires--can you test with a multi-meter?
  8. Hi all--we now own a 1992 Itasca Spirit. We have been Toyota mini-motorhome owners since 1985 and this is our third unit. This is a GREAT site--thanks Greg for all your hard work. Having owned this unit for about a month now, I have been going over it with a "fine-toothed comb". I thought I remembered that the Itasca was one of the few units that had aluminum framing for the box. I have discovered soft wood and wood rot in the overhead and as there is a large front window on the cabover, I am not surprised. I have re-sealed everything I can think of and have begun exploring my options as to repair/replacing the wood that is affected in the overhead. Dumb me, I assumed that because the Itasca was supposed to be aluminum framed, that this would not be a problem with this rig. As we are full-timers and have much experience with RV repairs of all types, I am confident that I can manage whatever I need to do. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has repaired their overhead. I have browsed the Gallery and seen what some members have gone through with repairing their problems. Thanks in advance for all your input. Charlie T/1992 Itasca Spirit
