  1. Thank you for organizing this trip! We are in Northern California and would love to attend if the dates work out. Our July is pretty well booked but other than that, we are pretty open. Is there a month that might promise (ha ha) better weather?? Kathy 1993 Itasca Spirit
  2. This seems like a fabulous price for all of this. Has the job been done yet and if so, how did it come out? Thanks for sharing this resource Kathy
  3. Low and behold I made a call to Larry (fellow Toy owner) who told me that the extra "black colored" wire was supposed to be attached to the RED battery cable! Made the switch and whala!! I have power and we are off on our first trip of the season to enjoy some wine tasting in Manton, CA. Thanks so much for your help Kathy
  4. How can I tell if it is popped? My son came over and put the battery back in so I can not see it as well now, just feel that it feels like the button went in and stayed in. I tried a small piece of a wooden skewer to see if it would pop back out but it didn't. So now I am looking at taking the battery out so at least if I need to, I can hook up to power. We are supposed to leave today. I am a bit skeptical about taking the RV somewhere to get this checked out. I guess an RV place would be the best? I have a guy who lives down the street who used to be a mechanic for an airline, would he be able to do this? I guess I think if you down actually own one of these older RV's then you don't really know the ins and outs of them but maybe any person who can operate one of those little meters can check it out quickly?? Thanks Kathy
  5. not the best photo, here is one of the cables
  6. trying again to send the photo
  7. I just took these. Let me know what you think, I still have not tried hooking up the new battery and pushing this button. I need to wait for my son so he can lift it and attach the cables, it was hard enough getting it out. Kathy
  8. Good morning all OK, I will get a multimeter and the next time I get to a Toy In I will get an inservice on how to use it! When I removed the battery, I stuck my head around and looked inside the compartment and there is a box that says REAR PNL/CONT and it has a BUTTON!!! So, I am thinking my next step will be to hook the battery back up and push the button??? I thought I would post this before doing that. Thanks so much Kathy
  9. OK, I will try this in the morning. I noticed that these fuses were difficult to remove so I will try using a tool to do it as I couldn't budge them with just my fingers. Then I will try removing the new house battery and see if I get anywhere just plugged into my house current without the battery in at all. I will also try just removing that extra wire like Derek suggests. I will let you both know how it goes. thanks so much for your quick answers. We are so looking forward to going away in the Toy this weekend I really appreciate the help. Kathy

    Electrical

Just put in a new house battery and ever since, I have no power. I have plugged it into house current (which worked before the new battery) and also started up the generator but neither will allow anything to work. Prior to this I had it plugged into my home with an orange cord and the lights, water pump worked fine. I am wondering about what I have read here with regards to "ground wire". There is an extra wire under the hood that is currently not hooked up because it is too short and I need it to be replaced. But it has been like this since before I got the new house battery. Also, when we installed the battery we put the extra "ground?" wire on the - "negative" side which the guy at the battery shop said was correct. I started the truck up too thinking perhaps that might work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Kathy 1993 Itasca Spirit CA.
  11. Thanks for posting this information on tires. I am currently trying to find tired for my toy. What's on there now are Kumho SBR 352 185R14C I guess that is commercial as opposed to load range D. These are apparently Korean made. When I do a google search under the 185R14 Kumho don't come up. Yokohama seem to be what is out there. I have contacted Discount/America Tires and they don't stock them so I am torn between driving it 200 miles to my destination where I can get them put on in 3 days after they order them for me. I am disappointed that they won't have them for me until Wed. as I am due to leave on Sunday. I don't see any visible cracking on any of them and the local guy told me I could bring it in for them to look at first. I was just wondering what the difference is between the C and D? Is it mainly weight? I know y'all say to get the D rated but no one has them in stock:) Thanks for any further info on this subject. Kathy 1990 Itasca Spirit Calif.
  12. We picked up our 1990 Itasca Spirit - 20 ft a few months ago for just under $5K. I was ignorant to pricing at the time but now I am seeing I did pretty well. I am putting new tires on because the ones on it are from 2001. Other than that it was spotless and included all original manuals. Like the other's said, for 14K asking price, it should be pretty close to perfect. There is lots of information here about what to check out before you buy. The consensus here is not to be in a hurry because there is always another one down the road. If you are going for a certain floor plan though, and this is the one you "have to have" then you might start with a low offer and work up. Just my 2 cents. Good luck, I know how exciting this time is. For me, the search was half the fun! Kathy Calif.
  13. Hi Estelle I am a new toy owner and just made my first trip to Trinidad, CA over the first week in July. Wish I had known you then because I think I paid about $10 to dump over there. Since it was our first time out, I had friends house sitting nearby and parked it in front of the house. It was great because I had trouble filling my water tank (didn't realize there were TWO places) and got to try out everything on it for the first time. Had a great time. Perhaps when the other Kathy finds her dream toy we can meet for coffee in that long driveway of your! Thanks again for posting your gracious offer here. You live in a beautiful area! Kathy
  14. Hi Dennis So, if the Toyota RV I am going to look at is a pre 1990 (it is a 1994) with a 4 cylinder, chances are it has the 5 bolts and not the 6. So, is this upgradable? What kinds of problems would one experience with the 5 bolts? The one I am hoping to go see is a 1995 19ft with a 22R engine - 4 cylinder. Thanks Kathy - new to the forum
