  1. I have an 85 Dolphin and my drivers side rear dually wheel bearing is on its way out. I am on the road currently and don't have tools with me to do the job myself. How much would I expect to pay to get this taken care of? Is it a job that any shop can do or should I go to an RV shop? Thanks.
  2. Thanks for the help guys. I ended up taking the lock apart and figuring out that the locking knob was not aligned with the lock housing. A little grease, and flathead bending the pin back into place did the trick. I appreciate the help. I am starting to figure out that to fix alot of the problems, I have to just dive in and go for it. Now on to fixing the furnace. I have 6 weeks till I hit the road for 8 months straight. Gotta have heat
  3. Hey guys, thanks for all the help on the issues this new Toy owner has. You are a wealth of knowledge. New question. I have an 85 Dolphin. The door to the camper looks like it was replaced recently. I have a key that fully turns in the lock, but doesn't seem to lock the door. I cant even lock it while I am inside it. It has a little black knob on the inside that you can pull or push in, but it doesn't seem to lock it either way. I included a couple pics for reference. Any ideas on fixing it? If not, where would I go about buying a new lock? The door is great, but I don't want to leave anything in the toy unless I can lock it. Thanks.
  4. Thanks so much. Im gonna print it out, and try and get the tank re-certified.
  5. What area of the galler is the decal? I cant seem to find it. Thanks for all the help everyone.
  6. Hello there. I have an 85 Dolphin that has the old style propane tank and valve system. I have to upgrade it to the new style, but have been told that I am not supposed to have the propane tank on its side. The Dolphin has a storage area for the the tank and its made for the tank to be on its side. Does anyone have a fix for this? Is it okay to have the tank on its side? The old one seems to work fine on its side, but I am almost out of lp and need to get a new one. Thanks.
  7. Hey guys I have a picture of my newly acquired 1985 Dolphin. I am a first time RV'er and just picked it up on Friday. Here is my new baby: She drives like a dream and I love her. But I have a question about the dash (speedo cluster) lights. At night they are really dim. I don't think any are out, is there a way to fix this? (new brighter bulbs, add more lights behind the speedo, etc). And how do I do that? Thanks.
  8. its exactly like a cheap motel on the road. thats why i got it. its actually cheaper for me to buy it and put gas in it then to get a room every night. plus i get a really cool looking vehicle.
  9. Thank you guys so much. I really appreciate it. I know sleeping in a nice rv at the end of the day isn't the norm on a bike tour, but i am gonna be on the road for nearly a year, so i figured it was ok
  10. im sorry, didn't mean to be too broad. I just wondered if there was a place online, or a book that went over the basics of rv'ing. if not, then i am really really glad i found this site. you guys all seem to know what your talking about and i am just trying to start.
  11. Hey there. Stumbled across this site and am finding if very helpful. I have just purchased a 1986 Dolphin, and am using it for a non-profit missions organization. I am going to be bicycling across the U.S. raising money for needs around the world. Zig zagging the country for about 8 months. I have a driver that will drive the dolphin and it will be my home for the next year or so. If your interested, the website is www.bikeforthelight.com. Anyways, here is my question. I have never owned an RV, and the one I just bought is in great mechanical shape according to the shop I took it to. But I don't know the first thing about all the equipment in it. I know it works, but I have no idea how to work it all (propane vs electric, hot water heater, types of generators to get, pretty much any of it). I am really good with my hands, and can usually figure stuff out pretty well, but was wondering if there was site or book or something that could help me learn this stuff without all the trial and error. I downloaded the manual, and it helped a little, but I need more of the "this is how you do this" stuff. Thanks. Visit My Bike For The Light website
