Thinking about mounting a 20 lb horizontal propane tank to the back of my sunrader hatchback in the top right corner with enough line so the hatch can fully swing open. This tank has built in feet with bolt holes and can operate vertically or horizontally, but can only be filled vertically. I will be using the propane to run a Dickinson P9000 Newport Propane Heater mounted to the wall with a direct exhaust through the roof above. I’m wondering if the proximity of the exhaust to the mounted propane tank when the hatchback is in the raised position matters. I don’t anticipate a scenario where I would run the heater with the hatch open, but still wondering if it would matter.

I’m about to separate a 1979 toyota sunrader and am not sure where to advertise the truck. I’m keeping the camper. Located in San Jose, CA

How much overhang past the back axle is normal? I notice some cabover campers have tailgates down and stick out past the open tailgate, but how much is too much? The existing 1978 toyota truck does have a frame extension and I would replicate that with the tundra, but since the wheelbase is shorter, the distance from axle to back of camper would be longer than it currently is. The wheel wells will be removed as the camper will sit a little higher on a subframe bolted to the truck bed frame. The bed will be removed.

Thanks Linda! I am looking for someone to fabricate a metal frame with side storage boxes, I’m in San Francisco but willing to travel to get this work done, any recommendation? Also- Do you know the dimensions of the 16.5 ft fiberglass sections, specifically the cabover length compared to the bed section length? I think the layout difference with the back door won’t change the overall dimensions and my sunrader is in storage two hour away.

78 sunrader was broken into, hood opened and things disconnected…will no longer start, having trouble finding a mechanic that will look at it, willing to get it towed. Any help is appreciated.

All windows have gaps and need to be resealed including the front two, i’m hoping the curved windows are in tact, but won’t really know until I remove and clean them, not sure if a chunk is missing or it is just really bad sealing job. any recommendations on insulation material and installation suggestions?

What are the best materials and process for insulating and sealing windows for a fiberglass camper? I also need to reinforce the floor, but should I also add insulation. I will be using the camper in both hot and cold environments.

@linda sI bought these as you recommended and was expecting to have them delivered tomorrow, but just got an email saying they are out of stock and that i’ll be getting a refund…so back to square 1. Are these the next best option: https://www.prioritytire.com/thunderer-ranger-r101-steer-195r14-106-104p-d-8-ply-as-a-s-all-season-tire/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=&scid=scplpN1084921-99&sc_intid=N1084921-99&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrJOMBhCZARIsAGEd4VGBHIOta-XQW-SBTncDrlMH5-Lz7Io9StV9jdWGnQTJjXY741KBAQsaAsDSEALw_wcB thanks! -Benjamin

Thanks @linda s yeah, will have chains as well, but not always required if you have snow tires: Requirements in California: Requirement 1 (R-1): Chains are required on all vehicles except passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks under 6,000 pounds gross weight and equipped with snow tires on at least two drive wheels. Chains must be carried by vehicles using snow tires. All vehicles towing trailers must have chains on one drive axle. Trailers with brakes must have chains on at least one axle. Requirement 2 (R2): Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four-wheel/all-wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels. NOTE: (Four-wheel/all-wheel drive vehicles must carry traction devices in chain control areas.) Requirement 3 (R3): Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles, no exceptions.

Thanks @linda s so I can run these tires on all 4? Do you recommend a specific wheel for these? Is steel or aluminum better? What’s the hub bore and offset? If I replace all the tires is there a reason to change the front wheels or can I keep those and just swap out the foolies and all tires? Really appreciate all the info on this great site!!
