  1. yes, that's sems to be the standard, whenever i look for used axles on sites like http://partshotlines.com/ the 1-ton they offer is single (and the different ratio does not matter, i hear, unless it is a 4wd). so i understand you'd pick this over a dually 3/4? thilo
  2. as the current dually adapter axle of our 83 went bad, we're looking for the best replacement in this jungle of axle information. we were told now that dually axles have never been made by toyota for these rigs, but are some kind of modification. is that true and as they are hard to get, is it an option to go from our 3/4-ton dually to a 1-ton single axle (which are more avaialable) and is this an improvement or a risk? we seem to have to compromise for either the 3/4-ton dually or 1-ton single - which one is better? and which years can we get? thx everyone, thilo

  4. we're just about to get this 83 sunrader, just waiting for the seller to replace a worn axle, so now the question is if a 1-ton axle is needed even for a 17ft rig (which makes 6-lug rims necessary) or if 1/2 ton would be fine again, too. anyone knows of axle incidents of tiny toys with 1/2-tons? what's a good (cheap) source of these axles around NY state? thx, everyone, thilo
