  1. My understanding is the two batteries are only connected with the ignition switch in the accessory position, so the shore power will not charge the truck battery, unless the key is turned on. You can check the truck battery, with a digital meter, with shore power plugged in. If the truck batt. reads around 13 Volts then the shore power is charging the truck batt. hope this is not too confusing and is of some help tennis
  2. Hi to all. I used this discussion board before buying my Toy and it sure helped. I would like to share what I have learned since I bought the first one. Firstly, our 1990 toy Itasca Spirit, Special Edition, with rear kitchen, which we had only one year, caught fire in the engine compartment, and was written off. Firewall forward was toast. Firewall back like new. We replaced it with a 93 toy itasca spirit 1. If you pull the rear axels, be sure to replace the small oil seal, that fits over the axle. If you don't, a high probability of the wheel bearing grease being washed out and hence, cooked bearings. 2. The house battery (on the 1990)was not charging, so installed a new battery isolator. You can check the house battery with a digital meter, with engine running. Should read above 13 Volts. The 1993 seems to be a different config. and haven't found out how this one works as yet. 3. The 1993 has a factory installed air ride system. The L/H air bag had been chafing on the shock. I will put in a longer bolt with spacer, to clear the air bag. 4. You can get the old brochures on line by going to the Winnabego web site. I printed mine out. The pictures show the decal layout. 5. The coach entrance door, was loose. Discovered the door had been slammed open by the wind and bent the door frame. Used 3 "C" clamps to straighten the frame and the door closes much tighter. You can adjust the door closure tension by loosening the bolt on the aft door frame and moving it inboard or out board and re-tightening. 6. The bottom of the door fell apart so removed the door frame, removed the bottom part of the door, bent a piece of sheet metal (around .008) thickness, (had someone bend it in a "U" shape on a metal bending machine) (called a Brake) inserted the piece of metal between the front and rear door skin, re-installed the bottom frame. The door is now fairly rigid. 7. Installed a new fantastic fan, in the coach rear. If you do this, don't forget to measure the coach roof thickness and install appropriate spacers to accomodate. I see this is getting very long so better stop here. Thanks to all again for all their great advise. I hope I can help out as much Tennis
  3. Hi all, just bought a 1990 toyota itaska spirit special edition. Trying to do price shopping for parts but I don't know what truck model to give them. So, how do you shop for parts or maintenance schedules? Would also like to buy a proper manual. I bought a generic one but could not find a wiring diagram that inclued headlites or horn. Also, any information about this unit would be appreciated. It is a v6 eng. but not sure if it is efi or just fi. awaiting help Tennis
