Long time fan of Toyota pick ups am now looking at getting an RV. Also a fan of dirt bikes and am looking to haul a 600 CC on a trailer hitch rack (i.e not towing but carrying). Another forum raised a concern for me with:
Toyota chassis are not any different for a 1/2- ton pickup or a grossly overloaded "1-ton" motorhome . Axle issues were not only costly headaches but downright deathtraps.(imagine loseing an entire pair of dual wheels off one side @ 65-70mph on the interstate !!) Luckily mine sheared the wheel studs off @ 2-3mph pulling into a gas station w/no serious damage.
Just shopping around online many Toyota RV's at least appear to be aft-heavy and not ready to take another 400 lbs. back there.
Any thoughts?
