  4. I was looking for suggestions on where it is possible to find a full motorhome class c cover for my Toyota sunrader 18ft Any link or suggestion is appreciated as most of newer styles are not the same front end toyota cab style.
  5. Thank you, I appreciate your compliment Linda, that means so much coming from you a toyota motorhome consultant legend! All cushions were sent to upholstery shop for new foam and new fabric. I had a carburetor rebuild. All fan belts replaced, All new radiator hoses, and heater hoses, radiator flush , new thermostat and coolant, oil change and filter. 50 point checkover given from rv service all appliances working , new toilet installed, all tanks working as they should. Thank you toyotamotorhome.org for sharing my renovation!
  6. Floor trim added and reflectix aluminum bubble wrap to keep heat and cold out and a great privacy curtain, velcro tabs added for quick removal and re install
  7. Recycled smaller Table, and stove top cover,, cutting board sink covers for more counter space New vinyl wood look floor installed after quarter inch plywood redeck all screwed down to cover carriage bolts , holes cut over carriage bolts and filled with wood putty flush again. Trim on edges still needed. And edge guards. I cut 2-half inch plywood boards for the extra cushions for dinette bed that slide under dinette cushions, so larger table for bed not needed.
  8. 1984 sunrader renovation 4 coats of kilns white primer and finish coat all in one paint semi gloss white, removed carpet in and around over cab face and entry door. 9. Thank you so much Linda I appreciate your quick reply and information link for parts thats it exactly same as mine . Hopefully built stronger and better as mine is very thin and even if repaired would have to be completely rebuilt of fiberglass completely to be usable. Mine is super thin as why it didn't last and has multiple cracks. So for cost materials and labor time the link you sent is well worth their asking price. I can do excellent fiberglass repair and restoration as many years experience with my fiberglass sailboats. that is why I chose sunraders. My others are 18fters 1 -1982 toyota sunrader 18ft rear dinette, diesel 2.2liter, 5 speed manual transmission,43,000 original miles, 1986 nissan sunrader 18ft rear dinette, diesel SD22 2.2 liter diesel, 5 speed manual transmission, 6lug front and rear, 1983 toyota sunrader 18ft rear dinette, 22R gas, automatic, I have a 1986 toyota extracab 4x4 5 speed manual transmission 22R gas this one will be my donner vehicle for my toyota sunrader 18ft 4x4 build. These sunraders can be addictive. I just spent over 200 hrs in 3 weeks renovation of my 1984 sunrader 21ft I will post some photos of its Renovation soon, all systems are fully functioning and operating, roof recently had everything on it revealed. And a new toilet installed. Thank you again I really appreciate your help. I will order that new bathroom liner part and do fiberglass walls to match. Any part suggestions for fiberglass wall panels for bathroom room?
  10. Ok thank you Linda I got measurements 37.5 in long x 26.5in wide shower base top of base at wall then at Floor 25.5in wide x 21.5 long then elevated 1in to 1 1/4in to toilet area 141/2 in long x 251/2inwide length the pan due to age and very then has multiple cracks to repair. I could use it as a mold and do fiberglass or epoxy layups to reconstruct if I have to but a replacement would be best if available, out of my other sunraders all have a 1 piece floor and walls complete fiberglass bathroom enclosure that is much thicker and appear to be installed prior to camper upper section assembled. however this 1984 toyota sunrader has only wood paneling with a vinyl like wallpaper covering. So I plan to buy or build fiberglass wall panels for walls and seal edges with a waterproof cauking sealant. and photos
  11. Thank you Linda for your quick reply! I appreciate your input! I will get you some photos next week as its currently a rv service shop for a systems check over!
  12. Thank you for any information that can assist in my replacement part search. I have a 1984 toyota sunrader 21ft 22R 4 speed manual transmission i have been doing a complete interior restoration of original interior components. I painted the interior white on walls ,cabinets and doors. On my bathroom a poor repair was done on the bathroom floor shower pan. I can repair it and repaint it. But I would prefer a new shower pan if that replacement part would be available anywhere? Does anyone know a source for that part? Also what is the best new toilet model number in a Thetford or another quality rv toilet and which size toilet is best suited for that sunrader rv? Thank you I always appreciate the information you guys have shared. Also thank you Linda for all of your past information you have shared.
  13. where is best place to find the bases? for inserting the ladder into and mounting as previously mounted on rear bumper? mine didnt have on my sunrader .
  14. Hi Linda plenty of power on flat ground and gentle grades running 55 to 60 no problem but the steeper long grades on highways she pulled around 45 to 50mph but steepest grades on country roads with no previous speed gain were 35 to 40mph so a turtle in the mountains but that was where I picked her up. most of my driving in coastal flat areas. I spent $92 on fuel so about .26 per mile on fuel. I haven't calculated the miles per gallon yet I still have to ad that up. I'll let you know. her diesel is only 2 2liter Nissan SD22. I'll keep you posted on mileage I get. she has 6 lug on front rims also. she didn't have a house battery I have one to install where is the best place to install a house battery at the ac/dc converter in the camper?
  15. Sparky the Sunrader when I picked her up in 5 inches of snow! me and the seller Mike Doty! Happy Trails to all! Adventures of Sparky the Sunrader!
  16. Greetings to Sunrader RV enthusiasts! I picked up Sparky the 1986 Nissan SD22 diesel Sunrader last friday from Kane Pennsylvania elevation 2,200 feet. 5 inches of snow and 20F. i drove to walmart first 2 install my 6 new Hankook truck D rated 8 ply sidewall tires. Thank you to all your advice. sparky handles better on the road with those thicker sidewall tires. 358 miles the return trip was. lots of fun and adventure and a few small repairs on the way. Sparky on the waterfront in Solomons Island Maryland. Sparky at new waterfront private campground storage at a friend's house. we arrived to Sunny Southern Maryland and 57f temperature Sparky was named by previous owner Mike Doty a new friend. many thanks Mike for selling me Sparky I am looking forward to many future Sunrader adventures. All is fun in a Sunrader! the best choice for a land yacht adventure!
  17. Thank you Linda for your information. I will weigh my nissan sunrader and let u know what it weighs. I checked with customer service tech of Hancock tires he also said p for passenger tires the side walls on those tires are 4 ply. I will upgrade to d rating 8ply side wall truck tires and resale these passenger tires someone will want them as they only have 200 miles on them. I will keep my loads light but I anticipate alot of distance driving nationally and internationally so I want the extra safety buffer. I have always ran new tires on my vehicles so no road worries on tires. the fuel economy I posted was regular cab pickup Nissan deisel without sunrader camper. sorry for the confusion. but as you saw great mileage on those with same deisel. I will check mine and post later. seller said 18 to 20mpg on hills and closer to 30 mpg on flat ground driving. anything over 18 mpg to me is a nice bonus. I really appreciate all of the information is good to be well informed about what you have.
  18. I found this information regarding fuel economy on a Nissan deisel regular 720 cab with a SD 22 deisel engine The SD22 has less power than an L20b, it has about the same torque as an L20b, it kicks the L20bs behind on mileage, I got 25mpg in the city no matter what with my SD22, and the best I got was 36mpg on the hiway, but I can't drive 55, I have had freinds saying they got 40mpg. The best I have been able to get with an L20b is 23 on the hiway, but that is the way I drive, and the fact is, I drive the way I do and the diesel still kicks the L20bs gas mileage wise even when I got the diesel floored, the worst mileage I ever got on the hiway with the SD22 diesel truck was 27-28mpg. this info was same as I have deisel in nissan 720 regular pickup most of my driving will be coastal flat ground driving.
  19. thank you Linda for your reply and information I appreciate your help my new tire size number is Pi 195/75R14.92 S Please let me know if this tire has a acceptable side wall rating for sunrader camper weight? thank you,
  20. thank you Derek for pointing that out I appreciate it. I understand as I did not look close at tire ratings seller ordered on line for nissan 720 truck with 1 ton axle he said. if not good camper truck sidewall rating I will buy 6 of the right ones. rest of everything was a good deal on it's own so buying 6 more new tires is ok with me these have 200 miles on them since new so I can sell them for a cash return if needed.
  21. I bought a Sunrader 18 foot today it is Nissan 1986 cab with 2.2 liter SD22 4cylinder diesel with 5 speed manual transmission . runs good. recently had installed by seller 6 new Hancock truck tires, 4 new shocks rear shocks with coil over shocks, new wheel bearings and seals, new brakes, new wheel cylinders, calipers. fuel pump. owner set up for himself and family but wasn't big enough after using. so I purchased for $3,200 . exterior was recently painted tan on lower camper side and cab. interior needs some tlc but most everything is there . shower and toilet as original. I drove 7 hours to see and buy. well worth the time. my other bought last month was 1984 Sunrader 21 foot with Toyota cab. before I couldn't find the 18 foot model but searching turned this one up. Thank you for all of your tips and help. I really appreciate it.
  22. Thank you Layton1550, I appreciate your encouragement, and information of other restorations and rebuilds, I live my life for adventure and what other people share. it makes travels much more enjoyable.
  23. thank you Mark Willam1 I have no plans for resale. the price is reflective of weeks and hours of combing random searches on craigslist and lots of emails with inquiries and follow ups. it was held for me on a good word from june till September by a gentleman's agreement. the way things used to work. it will be barn stored a few more months then normal services and repairs for making sure its road ready for many road trip miles. this price and value was needed as I wish to do lots of replacements and upgrades. 6 new tires, 4 new bilstein shocks, new springs, rear air bags, engine will receive a weber carberator for now but in the future the engine upgrade will be a Japanese export Toyota 3.0 liter turbo deisel 4 cylinder engine with a 5 speed manual transmission upgrade,K and N air filter. new batteries including extra marine deep cycle batteries for additional battery bank for extended boondock travel, 4- 100 watt lightweight 4lb solar panel with 30 amp controllers. inverter, new radiator, all fluids changed, all new belts and hoses, plugs and wires, all new brakes, new wheel bearings, front end bushings replaced with check and service for all front end component parts. full service check for RV with checkup service for all appliances to make sure all working properly with no leaks. new toilet. a new facing for all doors and cabinets.all new fabric and foam for all cushions, new head liner. fridge works great. but all else will be serviced and checked. cushions are ok but new fresh look with new foam will be better. later on she will have all wall panels and cabinets removed 2 inches of spray foam in walls and ceiling for better installation for tropical climates. all new wall panels headliners and all new lightweight cabinets will be installed. all new wood look flooring will be installed. with fantastic fans for vents, port light window for bathroom, a teak slat bench with piano hinge over toilet area of bathroom for a seated shower or lifted and pinned when not needed. and roof ac and generator. a full lightweight aluminum full raised roof area luggage rack with aluminum sheet floor with attached mounting for side awning. this will be a roof sun deck as well as provide additional insulation for roof to reflected tropical heat. rear of camper will have a full camper height and width custom sliding glass door for panoramic rear views and rear entry and exit access with a lightweight custom aluminum lifting tailgate that when parked and down will be a 7 ft x 7ft rear deck. protecting the sliding glass door when RV is moving. this design was on open road campers of 60s and 70s vintage. so as you see I will be spending alot. figuring my finished RV will come in around the price of high priced original ones with my upgrades for more convenience. she will be for fulltime Traveling when I am not sailing for work and pleasure. Most work will be done where labor is cheaper and alot more affordable. their will be alot of influence to lightest weight possible in all upgrades. I have been a toyota owner of many years because of toyota's dependability and reliability. so rather than buy new I wanted a toyota with upgrades. cheers and happy trails to all!
