  1. True, but it acts as shedding of the water. I am not totally sure that was what was causing the leak, more later (when it rains). we do not have serious weather like I am sure you do, but we do have excessive sun which bakes plastic to the point of dissolving into little pieces when touched. I am sure those rusted screw heads had something to do with the leak and the plastic will at least shed water away from them.
  2. I am not sure, but I think the leak was coming in through old cracked vinyl seam filler. I bought a new roll for $12 and replaced all the old vinyl inserts. I noticed while replacing the inserts that some of the screws were rusted. Hopefully this solves my problem. Of course living in Arizona, the rain has now stopped for the season, so I will have to wait. Thanks for your concern.
  3. bingo! Since I do not use the upper "berth" for sleeping, rather it is used for storage and TV etc. I never thought of it as an escape hatch, which of course it is The Heng one is the one that I have. So this solves today's problem. I looked on line for skylights and there a plenty of them but none with a lip. This is the reason I like belonging to this organization. Thanks ever so much! CHARLES
  4. The front skylight (over the upper bed) needs to be replaced. It is 26.5" x 19.5". Do you know of any source for this item? Appreciate any help as I cannot find one on line. Charles 1990 Odyssey.
  5. I had the electric system checked and a wire at the isolator was hooked up wrong. But the big problem and one I missed was that the starting battery was almost dead. By taking care of those two items I am now back in business. Thanks for the help! charles
  6. thank you for your input. I will proceed along those lines and let you how I do. charles
  7. I recently replaced my Power converter with a new PD 4000 series power control center. I did not notice any wire going toward the front of the coach to provide charging to the starting battery. I was wondering does it get charged by the PCC? My unit is plugged in to 110 volt, as well as I have installed 2 100 amp solar panels for when traveling. (also a 2000 w inverter). would appreciate any help you can give me. thanks! Charles martinson 928-580-2100 vlflex@juno.com
  8. My 1990 Odyssey, has a leak somewhere between the cab and the carpeted vertical portion behind the cab. It shows up on the carpet, about 1 to 1.5 feet above the wooden base of the couch. it is damp at that spot and wet down to the base of the couch. (couch upholstery portion is removed for this) I have checked all around the outside but can find no obvious water entry. This leak only occurs during rain (which I guess is obvious). Any thoughts??
  9. thanks for the info. I am going with AGM batteries and found some (sigmas tek) they are 75 amp hr each x 2 = 150 amp hour. Plus we'll be adding solar panels (harbor Freight 100 watt) with a go power inverter.
  10. I did find 1 battery that would fit the rather small compartment, but it is only 75 amp hyn only 1 battery will fit in the space. I am sure that I am going to relocate the batteries to a different location. since the are going to be agm or gel, it should be no problem -I hope!. Charles
  11. I contacted the orginal converter/charger folks who recommended a PD4045K replacement. It automatically handles both wet and dry batteries. I have been unable to locate group 24 batteries however, could you help me on that? Thanks
  12. I have not answered until now as I was working on a solution, however it did not work out. I have not been able to find a suitable battery. Instead, I have decided to put in 1 100AH AGM battery by Weize (Amazon $165). It is also to large for the small compartment, so I intend to put it in the next compartment under the sofa in a battery box. Since it is AGM it does not gas, unless overcharged. My rig has an platform in the rear (which extends the length of the couch by about 2') I have placed the generator there as well as re ran the 30 amp power cord under the floor to the platform. This gives me the space for the battery. Frankly the under sofa area is not very well organized so I am in the process of rerouting the propane line, as well as the water line. This will give me more than enough space. So far the only draw back I can see, is that the builtin charger (5amps) will not work with the AGM Battery. That problem I am still working on. CHARLES
  13. My 1990 Odyssey cruise control, which worked when i bought it, has quit working. We have been working around in the engine bay, and thought maybe I accidentally disconnected something, however that does not seem to be the case. Is there a fuse that controls this and if so where is it. I did not get any manuals with this vehicle.
  14. NAPA showed 15 different switches, so they asked me to bring the switch in. I tried and tried but go not get it out, so I had a mechanic remove it. THEN, I got the post saying check your brake fluid, and yes it was low, we topped it off and the light went out. Many thanks for that, to bad I did not know that before I paid a mechanic to take out the switch (and reinstall it) CHARLES
  15. The end of my emergency brake light switch has apparently broken off. Now when I release the emergency brake on my 1991 Odyssey, the dash light stays on. I have tried a number of auto supply stores, including NAPA, as well as some online sources with out success. Does anyone have any other sources? CHARLES
  16. My 1990 Odyssey came with one Power Sonic 28 amp hr batt. The compartment is small, but could take another batt I think. How many amp hr battery is usually installed?
  17. thank you Linda. I was around long before computers, still trying to catch up, with program intricties. CHARLES
  18. Derek, thank you very much for the info.  My coach is not a Durango, but a Santa Fe. However the sinks and the stove are reversed.

I am not a 70mph driver, i drive the speed limit (or less here in Arizona). Someone has suggested  that the injection system be check and or cleaned.  Which I will do, as to helping with the milage. Also tire pressure, and maybe even exhaust (although my coach only shows 47,000 miles) Mileage is very important to me, not how quick I can get there. Wish it had a larger gas tank!

If I pay for it, could I get a copy of the Odyssey brochure that you have, in fact any of the info since it is long out of print.

    Thanks again!

Sorry for the delay in responding, I was in the hospital for a short while, but I am back.  Thanks again for all the info.  I agree, I am just going to accept and not worry about it.

I am in the middle of remodeling by Odyssey, It came with a rear shelf (outside) on which I am mounting a 3400 w generator, as well as some other items.  On the inside I am installing Bamboo flooring as well as a new toilet, new window blinds etc.

      thanks again.

  20. I bought a 1990 Toyota Odyssey out of California, when I titled in my home state of Arizona they titled it as Odyssey, model Durango. What is that? I had the engine turned (cost $300 +) it got 10 mpg prior, now gets 11 mpg, shouldn't I get 15 to 17 mpg? if so, where do I look? Any good mechanics in the Phoenix area?. I am in the Casa Grande area. Could it be in the fuel injection? or? Help please Charles Martinson 928-580-2100 vlflex@juno.com
  21. my 1990 Toyota Odyssey's propane tank has to be removed to fill. It is very difficult to remove as the supply tube runs down in the middle of the compartment. Is this standard? Also my title upon registering it was later rejected by the state of Arizona, and we were required to change it to " make Odyssey, model Durango" . does anyone know why?
  22. I want to redue the front floor coverings on my 1990 Odyssey. I realize that the basis chassis is from a pickup truck, but which one. There are floor mats (wall to wall) type available for pickups, but now for motorhomes. so what pickup did my cutaway start out as? CHARLES
